Sir Billy Connolly’s wife Pamela Stephenson brands him ‘b*****d’ over ‘broken vow’

Sir Billy Connolly has been branded a “b*****d” by his wife Pamela Stephenson over a failed promise.

In a cheeky row between the pair shared by The Guardian, the comedian and his wife got tangled up about a vow he made but went back on. The 81-year-old has been married to 74-year-old Pamela since 1989 – and it’s fair to say they’ve already made it through a lot, including dealing with Billy’s Parkinson’s diagnosis.

He revealed to the publication that he once promised to take Pamela somewhere hot for Christmas – something that has never happened. As a jokey argument broke out between the pair, Pamela asked if there’s anywhere he’s already visited he would ever consider moving to.

Billy decided Australia would be the perfect place to go, leading to Pamela exclaiming: “You b*****d!” When asked what she meant, Pamela explained: “You even promised me one hot Christmas (Australia) and one cold Christmas (Scotland), but it never happened. So now you’re saying you would have lived there?”

She then suggested: “Let’s move to Byron Bay!” The pair currently reside in Florida after previously working and living in New York.

It comes after Billy issued a health update amid his battle with Parkinson’s, after being diagnosed in 2013. He has since suffered a number of falls due to his deteriorating balance, but says it’s “very difficult” to see the progression of the disease.

He explained: “A lot of things come and go. Recently I’ve noticed a deterioration in my balance. For some reason, I thought it would go away, because a lot of symptoms have come and gone away … just to defy the symptom spotters.

“It’s funny, that fall I had when I landed on my jaw reminded me of a thing I used to do on stage. I used to say, ‘I fell out of bed, but luckily my face broke my fall…’.”

Billy says the “cruel” disease is “creeping up behind me and stopping me doing things”, adding the “encroaching” condition is “adding to the list of things that hold him back”. But one thing it will never take is his sense of humour.

The stand-up icon candidly confessed that fans regularly approach him with a rather rude request, explaining: “Whenever I’m out walking, I have to keep my eye out because I can be caught out. I was out one day in London and a guy came running up behind me.

“‘Billy! Billy! Could you sign an autograph for wee Gavin my grandson?’ ‘Sure.’ A wee boy came up beside us. I wrote on his wee paper: To Gavin – Best Wishes, Billy Connolly.

“Then I started walking away, and I heard: ‘Billy!… Billy! Sorry again to disturb you on your walk,’ he says. ‘But Gavin was wondering if you could tell him to f*** off.’ ‘Sure,’ I said. ‘Gavin? F*** off!’ The wee boy went ‘YESSS!’”
