Strictly Come Dancing stars Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice have brushed off claims the actress is threatening to walk away from the BBC show.
With the first live show hours away, it seems everything is going wrong with head judge Shirley Ballas coming down with a mystery illness and Adam Thomas sustaining an injury, which could end his run in the competition before it’s even started.
Also, Amanda has reportedly had several run-ins with her professional partner Giovanni, who is said to have left her feeling miserable. However, the pair have shut down claims by posting gushing messages on social media ahead of their first routine.

Amanda recently posted on Instagram: “The smile you give your pro partner at the end of the camera rehearsal when you know you are in safe and hugely talented hands. “@Giovannipernice [you] legend.”
The professional dancer quickly replied, reciprocating his partner’s feelings. He said: “I usually don’t say those things early (as probably everybody know), but I’m extremely proud of you, and I can’t wait for people to watch what we have created.”
It comes after an insider told The Sun: “Giovanni is a hard taskmaster and takes the competition very, very seriously. Sometimes his manner is incredibly brusque, and this can upset his partners. Amanda was really looking forward to dancing with him, but has found his aggressive training style and attitude pretty difficult to handle.
“The experience is said to be a million miles away from what Amanda expected it to be, with the Sherlock star initially buzzing to be working with her partner. She said: “I went nuts because I wanted Giovanni, so it was a really lovely surprise.”
The actress has had a different Strictly journey so far, having also suffered from food poisoning and a painful injury during her preparations. In addition, she bravely opened up about her difficult battle with mental health and suicidal thoughts after her split from her ex-partner, Martin Freeman.
Amanda and Giovanni will take to the dancefloor to Pointless by Lewis Pointless on Saturday night as they take on the first Viennese Waltz of the series. Fans will have to wait and see if the pair will impress judges Craig Revel-Horwood, Shirley Balass, Motsi Mabuse and Anton De Beke.
The BBC has been approached for a comment.
