In his first interview since quitting the show, he said: “I could not continue in The Apprentice due to being unable to complete the task in Dubai for health reasons.”

Despite missing out on the £250,000 investment, Scottish-born Reece, left, is convinced his stint on the show was a success.

He added: “My goal of being on The Apprentice was to showcase that Scotland has amazing businesses and entrepreneurs. I really hope I’ve done that.”

Reece will now watch the show on Thursday nights to see how his rivals got on after his exit. He said: “I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time on the show and I’m looking forward to watching my fellow candidates in the rest of the series.

“I’m so grateful for my time with Lord Sugar and the team.”

Reece announced he was taking part in the show once the official line-up was revealed on January 3, dubbing it “Scotland’s worst kept secret”.

He said at the time: “I hope you all enjoy the show as much as we laughed making it. As the first Scottish candidate in over 8 years, let’s do this Scotland.”

Due to the line-up being the biggest since 2017, producers won’t bring in new candidates.

Reece’s exit will take place on Thursday, but he won’t be the first person to quit the show this series, as Reece leaving comes just a month after Shannon Martin quit because she missed home.

Shannon’s exit came after she explained she was “constantly thinking” about what was going on at home and with her bridal business.

She said at the time: “The unknown is definitely not something I’m good at. The more I thought about it, the more I thought, ‘Am I in here for the right reasons? Do I really want a business partner? Is this what I want? Do I want my life to change?’”

Ultimately she opted to leave and continue focusing on her career away from the spotlight – but she’s still been supportive of her fellow contestants since.
