The View co-stars clash as tensions erupt after sexism row leaves fans speechless

Viewers were left speechless following a recent blowout on ABC’s The View after the co-stars addressed a topic on sexism.

During the opening Hot Topic segment on Tuesday’s show (May 30), Sunny Hostin clashed with Alyssa Farah Griffin as the panellists discussed the root cause of criticisms surrounding Vice President Kamala Harris.

During the debate, Whoopi Goldberg introduced the topic and highlighted how a Washington Post report claimed that the Biden administration is trying to boost Kamala’s image ahead of the 2024 American presidential election.

When Whoopi asked her fellow co-stars why the administration believes Kamala needs elevating, Alyssa – who once worked for former Vice President Mike Pence – shared how she hasn’t been impressed with the politician since she’s taken office.

Adding: “She has not really been able to do either. And I feel like she hasn’t broken through on major policy accomplishments.”

The former White House staffer added: “She will, fairly or unfairly, be the most scrutinized Vice President in history because she’s running with the oldest president running for president in history.”

An evidently annoyed Sunny then chimed in, adding: “And she’s also a Black woman.”

Alyssa instantly fired back, adding: “But I think you have to fairly critique the Vice President of the United States without just saying it’s the colour of their skin or the fact that she’s a woman,” before asking her co-host why she believes race is a “part of it.”

“Well, we’re in the United States of America,” Sunny shot back.

“Black women — and this is not just me saying it. I mean, there have been studies. Black women are considered less articulate. They are considered uglier. They are considered all of these things by this country. It’s because of the history of misogyny and sexism.”

The duo engaged in one last bit of back-and-forth as fans took to social media to share their reaction to the moment.

One viewer penned: “Can’t believe what I hear on The View. I’m absolutely speechless.”

Another critic commented: “This is crazy to me,” as another viewer penned: “Wellt his is awkward to sit through.”
