X Factor's Union J star Jaymi Hensley unrecognisable after secret hair transplant

Union J band member Jaymi Hensley looked unrecognisable as he revealed the results of his secret hair transplant.

The former popstar, who found fame on ITV’s The X Factor in 2012 spoke for the first time about insecurities that saw him transform his look.

Recalling his time on the talent show, Jaymi remembers being told that his hair was “too short” for being in a boyband and admitted to wearing hair extensions to “fit in.”

The 32-year-old told The Sun: “My first memory of being on X Factor is ‘your hair’s too short. You’re in a boyband’. George [Shelley], Josh [Cuthbert] and JJ [Hamblett] all have very thick hair.”

“For me, it was never about my talent or my personality that I ever had insecurities about. It was just the way I looked,” Jaymi confessed. “I was slightly overweight compared to the boys. I was the gay member and I had thinning hair.”

Jaymi first had the procedure in 2013 before opting to wear hair pieces for almost five years and eventually ditching wigs for good.

The “painless” procedure took place at the KSL clinic in Maidstone which has seen celebrities like Jake Quickenden, TOWIE’s James Lock, Love Island’s Jack Fincham and former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson come through their doors.

Jaymi’s partner Olly Marmon also had the hair transplant at the clinic, and the results spurred him to get him appointment booked in.

Jaymi’s image overhaul comes after it was announced that Union J will hit the road in May on a UK reunion tour, celebrating 10 years as a group and the return of George to the group.

Although the group have had ups and downs, Jaymi feels “closer” than ever to the group and is looking forward to the reunion tour.

“When we decided we would reunite I think it’s safe to say we all had worries or apprehensions … but I have never felt closer to my boys! And for the first time I can safely say I wouldn’t change a thing that happened as it’s got us to this moment in time.”
