Alison Hammond speechless as star makes Phillip Schofield joke in awkward moment

Alison Hammond was left a bit taken aback by a joke about her former This Morning colleague Phillip Schofield.

Phil, 61, dramatically quit his career at the network following an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a much younger male colleague, casting a shadow over This Morning. The show has only just started to recover from the controversy nearly a year later.

However, jokes about the incident continue to be made, and now Alison found herself in an awkward position while appearing on a panel game show. She is a team captain on Rob Beckett’s Smart TV, a panel show that airs on Sky Max.

In a new episode, she is joined by comedian Natasia Demetriou and radio host Roman Kemp, facing off against comedy star Josh Widdicombe and his team. Things turned a little bit awkward when Josh, 40, made a joke at Phil’s expense. Show host Rob, 38, kicked off the show by asking Alison how she was feeling as the leader of her team, reports the Mirror.

He asked: “Alison, are you feeling confident in your team as the captain? “. Alison said: “As the captain I am feeling very confident. I’ve got Nat. I’ve got Roman. I feel like I’ve got backup. Mainly because I probably don’t know that much because I’ve been so busy, Rob. I’m not being big headed or anything, but I probably haven’t watched TV in a long time.”

Rob then quipped: “I don’t think that’s big headed. I think that’s totally inappropriate for this show.” Josh asked Alison: “What was the last thing you watched? ” And she replied with a giggle: “It was probably, I watched myself on This Morning.” Josh seemed surprised and said: “You don’t watch it back? ” To which Alison responded, still laughing: “I’m only joking! I’m only joking! “.

Then Josh delivered his punchline: “You’re the only person who has ever gone onto ITV player and played This Morning. Since the episode that Phillip left.” The scene then showed Alison and her team, with Alison trying to hold back her laughter and making a bit of a face.

TV star Phil’s world turned upside down last year when he owned up to not being honest about a secret romance with someone from work. He said: “I am deeply sorry for having lied to [the press and my lawyer], and to many others about a relationship that I had with someone working on This Morning.

“I did have a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning. Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.” You can catch Rob Beckett’s Smart TV on Sky Max and Now at 9pm.
