BBC Breakfast star missing for whole month as they take break from show in huge shake-up

BBC Breakfast is undergoing a huge presenter shake-up with one star set to be off air for a whole month.

The hit morning show has a slew of hosts on rotation to wake up the nation with the latest headlines from across the globe. The likes of Sally Nugent, Naga Munchetty and Ben Boulos are all regulars on the programme.

But for fans hoping to see Ben on screen anytime soon – they will be disappointed. Ben joined the show in 2022 and has become a firm favourite with viewers.

However, the journalist has been missing for the past number of weeks. And viewers will reportedly have to wait a while for his next appearance on BBC Breakfast.

The Sun claims that Leicestershire native Ben, who used to go by Ben Bland before changing his name to reflect his heritage, has taken annual leave from the show. He is said to have jetted off on a trip across the US.

Ben will visiting New York, New Orleans and Washington DC while in the States. It is also believed that Ben will be back on screens later this month.

In other BBC Breakfast news, Naga made her return to show this week for the first time in weeks. The 48-year-old anchor had been missing with no explanation.

During her first show back, she clashed with a Tory minister. She welcomed policing minister Chris Philp onto the show and conversation later turned to the criticism Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is facing.

This week, he joked about Labour’s position on trans people when the mum of murdered teenager Brianna Ghey – who was transgender – was in Parliament. During Prime Minister’s Questions, Mr Sunak ridiculed Sir Keir Starmer for U-turning on “defining a woman”.

No 10 said it was “legitimate” to question the Labour leader’s position but Brianna’s father, who is among those calling for an apology, said the PM’s comment was “degrading”. Naga asked Mr Philp on whether he thought Mr Sunak’s jibe was approbate when the mother of Brianna was in the house.

Mr Philp appeared to avoid the chance to give his own opinion on Mr Sunak’s views, which led Naga to repeat the question on more than one occasion. As Mr Philp continued to not answer Naga’s question, she moved on to ask whether Brianna family’s will have an apology from the Prime Minister.

As he appeared to avoid her second question, Naga raised her voice and still didn’t get an answer from Mr Philp. Fans rushed to their keyboards to praise Naga for her “excellent questioning” during the interview. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan penned: “Go Naga.” Another added: “Yes, Naga go get that man.”
