BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty left ‘limping’ after suffering ‘very bad’ injury

BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty has revealed she suffered a painful foot injury that left her limping for six weeks.

The 49-year-old spoke openly about her health while appearing on the latest episode of BBC podcast, Room 101 with Paul Merton. On the show, host Paul interviews his celeb guests and quizzes them on their pet peeves.

Sharing what often grinds her gears, Naga revealed that she has a gripe with people who walk too slowly. But this led her to reveal that she’s had to slow down her pace due to suffering a very bad injury.

She said: “I am a very quick walker. I’m fit, healthy, I have a long stride and I like to get where I’m going.

“At this moment I’m injured, my foot is injured and I’ve had to walk very, very slowly. It was very badly injured. For about six weeks I’ve been limping, it’s been getting better.”

Naga did not disclose how she sustained her injury. However, she did admit that she tries to be considerate when walking as she tries not to get in people’s way.

She continued: “Yet you walk around and there are people that walk so slowly, they’re shuffling. I don’t even know why they’re moving.

“This is why I’ve caveated this with my injury because if you are injured or you’re elderly or find it difficult to walk, that is absolutely fine. Don’t walk in the middle of the pavement, don’t inconvenience everyone else who’s trying to get on with their business.”

She then concluded: “Just be considerate. It is not against the law or any moral code to walk slowly, but it should be against the law to inconvenience other people because you are a slow walker.”

Although Naga didn’t share what happened to her foot, earlier this year the star hit headlines for her absence on BBC Breakfast. Back in February, fans were left baffled as she was missing from the famous red sofa for three consecutive weeks.

At the time, Naga’s absence followed an announcement at the end of last year in which the BBC said they would be merging its two news channels with several presenters being axed The cooperation announced that Martine Croxall, Kasia Madera, Annita McVeigh, Geeta Guru-Murthy and Karin Giannone would be leaving but they then reversed the decision for a couple of the presenters.
