A new expert has joined the team on The Repair Shop.
Textiles guru Rebecca Bissonnet will be helping with clothing jobs on the hit show. The newcomer has worked in textiles for years at places including Hampton Court Palace and Kensington Palace with jobs that have included repairing Queen Elizabeth’s coronation dress.
Landing a role in the famous barn is a dream come true for her. She said: “The Repair Shop rang me as they were looking for a textiles expert. They had found my details through my website and I actually missed the call because I had just popped next door to the village shop to buy cherry cake.

“I rang back and had a good chat followed by a Zoom call and that was it!” Rebecca has already started filming and she’s loved helping restore sentimental items. She said: “Some of the stuff brought in would be so expensive to fix, as it’s so time heavy. Hands-on work is so intensive.

“So we’re helping restore, repair and conserve items, giving conservation to people that may not necessarily have the resources to have them restored themselves and it means they’ll now be future-proofed and be around for years to come.” It comes after The Repair Shop made history last year as they beat This Morning to take home the NTA for Best Daytime Show.

The ITV daytime programme had previously taken home the title every year since 1998. Jay Blades has become a beloved part of the UK’s television roster, with The Repair Shop documenting the Wolverhampton-local’s love of furniture up-cycling. He encouraged the crowd to cheer as the show’s team took to the stage and snapped a picture of the moment as he noted it was a “rarity” for them to be winning the prize.
Jay thanked those who voted and the team behind the show, adding: “I would like to salute my experts, they are my family.” He also praised his fellow nominees at This Morning, The Chase and Loose Women, saying: “We’re the new kids on the block and I’m glad we’ve won this time. I know it won’t be a regular thing so thank you.”
Rebecca will make her debut on the new series which kicks off on April 10 at 8pm on BBC One
