BBC viewers reduced to tears as Michael McIntyre’s ‘unexpected’ guest steals show

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show left viewers at home shedding a tear after welcoming a guest with an extraordinary talent.

The BBC programme invited Alfie onto Saturday (January 20) night’s show under false pretences. The 24 year old was under the impression he’d be testing out a football gaming centre, having no idea he was just feet away from a studio audience of 2,000 people.

Comedian and host Michael worked alongside the show’s producers to surprise the amateur busker with an opportunity to perform. Despite having been diagnosed with cerebral palsy at a young age, Alfie hasn’t let it hold him back.

Speaking on why he feels driven to sing, Alfie explained: “I just love to entertain people and I like to see joy on people’s faces when I sing. I think for me, you can make a real big change when we put positive energy into the world, I think that’s what we should all be here to do tonight.”

Alfie explained that singing has made him feel like he can “do anything”

“I just want everyone in my position to hopefully be inspired if I can do that to one person, then I’ve done my bit to help. Singing means everything to me, with cerebral palsy, there were limitations there but singing has made me feel like I can do anything.”

Viewers at home immediately took to social media to share their surprise and admiration for brave young Alfie. On X (formerly Twitter), one user wrote: “What an absolute star Alfie is! What an inspiring guy & fabulous voice”.
