Coronation Street suffers blow as live cast event ‘left with scores of unsold tickets’

Hundreds of tickets were reportedly left unsold ahead of a live event featuring Coronation Street stars Mikey North and Ryan Prescott.

The actors – better known as Gary Windass and Ryan Connor in the ITV soap – will be on stage at the Medina Theatre in the Isle of Wight tonight (April 19), where they will share “behind the scenes stories of life on the cobbles”, as well as “secrets” and “fun facts”. They were also lined up for a VIP meet and greet experience.

But according to The Sun, hours before the show was due to start there were plenty of tickets left, with fans failing to snap them up. The venue can seat 425 people but the paper claimed there were still 286 tickets left for the show, which was a private event and not organised by the soap.

An insider claimed it was “a really embarrassing situation” and “must be so disheartening” for the TV stars, who are both veterans on the cobbles.

“They’ll be professional and give the fans who do go a great time but to have so many unsold tickets is definitely unexpected,” the source said of Mikey and Ryan.

The event was plugged on Medina Theatre’s Instagram last week, with the post saying: “Hey Corrie Fans! Exciting news! Don’t miss out on the chance to see 2 Coronation Street stars, on stage, right here on the island for one night only! Next Friday, April 19, get ready for a night of fun as they share behind-the-scenes stories, secrets, and more from the cobbles.

“Get your tickets now before they’re gone and be a part of this unforgettable experience! See you there!” According to the website, tickets cost £31.

The theatre’s website states that the event was being presented by the company Seamless Entertainment, who posted a picture on Instagram of the actors arriving at the Isle of Wight on a ferry before the show.

Mikey, 37, has been in Coronation Street since 2008. Ryan, 35, joined the soap as Ryan Connor in 2018. Ryan recently returned to the cobbles. He’s set for a dark storyline involving steroid use.

Coronation Street itself did hold a live event last September at its Tours building and tickets were snapped up, selling out in around two hours.

Daily Star has contacted Seamless Entertainment and ITV for comment.
