Coronation Street’s ‘sickest villain’ return ‘confirmed’ seven years after prison exit

Corrie ‘s “worst ever villain” is reportedly returning to the cobbles.

Groomer Nathan Curtis (Christopher Harper) is said to be heading back to Weatherfield seven years after he was jailed. Fans will remember he exploited vulnerable Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) and intended to sell her as a sex slave abroad in harrowing scenes in 2017.

Just before he could get her out of the country, Bethany said she needed help before the police arrived and arrested Nathan. She later testified against him and other members of his sick gang, who were found guilty of rape and handed custodial sentences.

According to The Sun, Bethany is left terrified next month when she learns Nathan has been released from jail. A source told the publication: Nathan’s easily the worst villain Corrie’s ever produced. The grooming storyline was one of the soap’s most important. The hope is that revisiting it will boost the show. It’s a risk but it’s one that producers hope will pay off.” Daily star has contacted ITV for a comment.

It comes after fans predicted that Nathan could be Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fittons) secret boyfriend. The teen is currently missing and believed to be dead with Roy Cropper (David Neilson) currently being accused of murder.

However, before she disappeared, Lauren made a call to her ex and made it clear she wanted nothing to do with them. She later shared an intimate moment with Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll) and the pair shared a kiss on the sofa. As things got heated, Bobby attempted to remove Lauren’s clothes.

It was at that moment Lauren’s heavily bruised shoulder was exposed. A confused Bobby questioned how she hurt her arm before Lauren claimed it happened after she fell down the stairs.

Fans were left theorising who the mystery man could be and some came to a conclusion that it is Nathan, with viewers recalling that Nathan was part of a gang who groomed young girls. Writing on X, one speculated: “What are them bruises on Lauren? What is she involved with? Could it be Nathan she’s involved with? Bethany’s groomer from years back?”

Another agreed: “Lauren’s boyfriend is Nathan isn’t it, why oh why would you do this corrie.” A third added: “Is Lauren’s boyfriend Nathan (Bethany’s abusive ex) by any chance?”

Echoing this, a fourth penned: “When’s Nathan due out of prison? My money’s on him being Lauren’s secret boyfriend.” Meanwhile someone else simply stated: “Ah so it is it’s Nathan.” Fans will have to wait and see if Nathan is returning to Weatherfield and wether or not he has anything to do with Lauren’s disappearance.
