Corrie star ‘prayed’ lights would go out during nude scene on ITV show

Coronation Street star Helen Lederer opened up about the time she went nude on screen.

The Absolutely Fabulous actress took up a role on Corrie as Ken Barlow’s love interest Elspeth but previously stripped off for another ITV show. In 2018, she participated in The Real Full Monty which she says “wasn’t my favourite”.

As the group of celebs raised awareness for cancer, they stripped off for a burlesque-style show, which took all the courage she had to strip off. Talking about her experience, she said “I just prayed the lights would go out at the right time”.

She starred on the programme alongside a star-studded lineup – but one Loose Women star was better than the rest. When asked who was the most confident out of her co-stars, Helen told us: “Coleen Nolan was very supportive of others. So I think it does take someone to show their own vulnerability, and then support others which is quite helpful, and she was just ready and raring to get involved.”

Other celebs that featured on her series included Jeff Brazier, Michelle Heaton, Ashley Banjo and Megan McKenna. She added: “There were some young ones on the show too, there were very beautiful people in our cast So it wasn’t a big issue for those ones either as they were beautiful. People want to see beautiful people, it’s nice to look at!”

But would she be up for doing it all over again? Helen, 69, quipped: “I think people would pay me not to this time around. I think you have to kind of think ‘enough is enough’. But who knows? I mean, TV shows like Naked Attraction, I just don’t know how people do that. I always say that people always look so much better with their clothes on.”

Helen is hoping to go back to Coronation Street

The TV star and comedian has just released a memoir titled ‘Not That I’m Bitter’. She said: “It’s to remember all of the things I’ve sone – sometimes I can’t quite believe it either.”
