EastEnders airs ‘most iconic return’ as ‘axed’ star comes back – but fans left distracted

EastEnders Karen Taylor made an epic return to Walford – but fans couldn’t help but become distracted.

The character, played by Lorraine Stanley, was last seen on the soap last year – when she fled with her family after stealing money from Phil Mitchell. Since then, she’s been in hiding abroad – not knowing son Keanu Taylor was killed at Christmas by Linda Carter.

But during Monday’s episode (January 5) Karen returned demanding to know where Keanu is. Rocking up at the grand reopening of Nish’s new cafe, Karen fumed that Keanu was supposed to visit her “but he never arrived.”

Someone else added: Welcome back queen Karen.” A third quipped: “Yay!!! Karen’s back.” However other fans couldn’t help but become distracted by Karen’s Burberry scrunchie- that they joked she bought with Phil’s money.”

“I was sad, it was a mix of emotions, it’s sad but it’s exciting as now I can go and do what I want. You can get a bit relaxed there and a bit comfortable. So I want to be out of my comfort zone.”

She also revealed how she’s eyeing up another role on a rival soap – claiming she’d consider ITV’s Coronation Street. She mused: “”I’d be Gemma’s [Winter] auntie, Bernie’s sister. I’d be in there family and I’d take over The Rovers.”
