EastEnders ‘new Mitchell’ character ‘revealed’ – with rival soap star set to play them

EastEnders fans reckon a rival soap star could be set to join the BBC show.

Last month, Channel 4 Hollyoaks viewers were left gutted when Ross Adams confirmed they were quitting the show after nine years. Ross played Scott Drinkwell – and was a firm-favourite.

At the time, he confirmed that he made the difficult decision to bow out at the end of his current contract. The actor went on to reveal how it was the “right time” for him to “try some other things” that he has been “super keen to do.”

Ross played a part in several big storylines during his stint on Hollyoaks. So much so, that he scooped up a British Soap Award for Best Male Dramatic Performance in 2018.

However, now fans reckon that Ross is about to join rival soap EastEnders. Over on X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer penned: “ross adams has been doing loads of Eastenders related tiktoks since he announced he was leaving hollyoaks now i may be reading into it too much but.”

The user then shared clips of Ross’ TikToks. In one, he can be seen lip-synching to a viral sound of Sharon Watts’ on the BBC One soap. While in another, he slipped on a blonde wig and performed another Sharon lip-synch.

Other fans were quick to echo that theory. A second viewer replied: “I defo think so too.” Someone else added: I’ll be so happy if he does join the square.” A third wrote: “was saying this a few days ago. can definitely see it happening.”

One fan pointed out how he could join the iconic Mitchell clan on the soap. They wrote: “I kinda want to see him as a Mitchell. He deserves to be related to the icon that is Peggy Mitchell!”

Others noted how he might be a potential love interest for Felix. They wrote: “FELIX’S PARTNER, GIVE ME THE DRAMA.” A second agreed: “And I would be obsessed if he did – a nice wee love interest for Felix.”

In March Ross explained on Instagram his decision to leave Hollyoaks. He said: “After nearly a decade, I have made the decision to leave Hollyoaks. It was always a dream of mine to act in a soap and playing Scott Drinkwell (and his alter-ego Anita Tinkle) made that dream a reality.

“It has been a joy and allowed me to do things I could never have dreamed of; from winning a British Soap Award, to writing an episode last year. I love the show; the wonderful cast and one of the most dedicated crews in the business – all of whom are having a pretty rough time at the moment.”

He added: “So deciding not to sign another contract was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. Sometimes though, you’ve just got to be brave – and now feels like the right time for me to try some other things that I’ve been super keen to do. I really hope you’ll all come with me for the ride! Big love, Ross x.”
