Rita, who is playing Marie Fielding on Hollyoaks, then pulled out the death that her character Roxy died in. Picking up the slinky black dress, she showed it her beau and told him: “Do you know want that is? That’s the death dress!”

It comes after earlier this month, the mum-of-two hinted she could make a return to EastEnders. Appearing on Good Morning Britain Rita was quizzed whether a return could happen. Co-host Ed Balls asked: “Did you actually drown?”

Rita then responded with a coy smile and a cheeky eyebrow raise. Determined to get answers, Ed grilled her further and said: “You could be a Dirty Den returner!”

Rita said the dress is ‘depressing’

The TV Star replied: “Listen, [there] was Dirty Den’s return, Michelle [Collins] as Cindy…I think in soap when you get asked to go in a coffin, you say no. I did!”

Meanwhile Rita’s on-screen sister Samantha Womack has been open about her EastEnders ‘axe.’ In an interview with John Bishop from 2017 she said: “It ended up with the character being killed off.” John then said: “That decision,” before Samantha chimed in and quipped: “Was not mine.”

John went on: “Did you go ‘oh thank god for that?’” as Samantha proclaimed: “No! I was devastated because I wasn’t planning to leave.

“I was waiting to meet the new producer [Sean O’Connor]. He was coming in, I was excited because I though she [Ronnie] had got really dark and it become really over sensationalized. So with this new guy coming in, great, I’d heard he wanted to take it back to kind of reality, less murders. And I was thinking great, thats right up my street.
