EastEnders signs up rival soap star as George Knight’s mystery son Junior to ’cause a stir’

EastEnders has signed up a rival soap star to play Junior Knight, the son of George Knight.

George, played by Colin Salmon, rocked up the famous square last year, with the rest of his Knight clan. Since then, he’s become a firm favourite and has been involved in some dramatic storylines so far.

He was left heartbroken after finding out the truth about his adoption and heritage. It was revealed that parents Gloria and Eddie bought George as a youngster through a process known as baby farming back in the day – which is when children were illegally sold to couples by their biological parents.

George’s world was then turned upside down even more when he found out Eddie had murdered his birth father. Eddie was then sent down for the murder of George’s father, meanwhile adopted mum Gloria sadly passed away.

And the shock news caused George to reach out to his estranged son George. In June last year, viewers found out there was another member of the Knight family we had not yet met. It was revealed that George had a son who he did not see called Junior.

Now, it’s been confirmed that rival soap star Micah Balfour will be playing Junior and will first appear on screen later this month when he comes face-to-face with estranged dad George.

Actor Micah has starred in the likes of The Bill playing PC Benjamin Gayle. Most notably, he played the love interest of Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) in rival soap Emmerdale.

On getting the role of Junior, Micah said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the cast of EastEnders as part of the Knight family. I grew up watching the show and many of the characters have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, so walking onto the Square for the first time was the most surreal experience of my career!

“It’s a privilege to work with Colin Salmon, who I’ve watched with admiration for many years, and Francesca Henry and Molly Rainford, who are dynamite on screen, as well as the amazing Harriet Thorpe and Kellie Bright. Junior is an exciting character to play as he’s a complex man, and he’s going to cause a bit of a stir!”

EastEnders’ Executive Producer, Chris Clenshaw added: “I’m delighted to welcome Micah Balfour to the cast of EastEnders as he takes on the role of Junior Knight. Although Junior has been referenced since The Knights arrived in the Square, the audience knows very little about George’s son and the circumstances behind their estrangement.

“Junior arrives in Walford following an unlikely meet with his dad and is quickly thrust into the heart of the drama. However, it will soon become apparent to viewers that there is more to Junior than meets the eye…”
