Emma Stone voted ‘sexiest redhead’ in time for Kiss A Ginger Day – beating Nicole Kidman

La La Land star Emma Stone has been voted sexiest redhead in time for Kiss A Ginger Day tomorrow (January 12).

The actress, 35, was followed by Eyes Wide Shut’s Nicole Kidman and Aussie Isla Fisher, who was in Home And Away. Presenter Stacey Dooley and Spice Girl Geri Horner were deemed the hottest Brit ginger women.

When it came to flame-haired men, singer Ed Sheeran and actors Ewan McGregor and Damien Lewis were voted the sexiest. Harriet Scott, from GingerComms, which led the research, said: “We wanted to take a look at which celebrity redheads are among the nation’s favourites and were pleased to see plenty of Brits included.”

A quarter of people said fiery shades are becoming more fashionable and 10% wish they were a redhead. The news came just in time for the annual celebration of redheads, which, while informal, encourages folk to show their ginger friends some love.

Hair colour isn’t the only thing Emma has in common with the Spice Girls. She was recently quizzed by LADbible on who her favourite member is, and she explained: “Ginger Spice is the superior Spice Girl – Ginger Spice is incredible. To choose a superior spice girl is insane. My favourite growing up was Baby Spice but to choose one above all five, is not even fair.”

Her Poor Things co-star Mark Ruffalo said his was Posh Spice, as Emma quipped: “Really! Bend It Like Beckham!” The pair were then asked: “What do you think the other person’s Spice Girl persona would be?”

Mark told Emma: “You’re Posh Spice.” As Emma responded: “Oh god, that’s so rude!”

It comes after Poor Things director Yorgos Lanthimos confessed it was Emma herself who came up with the idea for plenty of raunchy sex scenes in the new flick. He told the Irish Times: “Talking, for example, about the sex scenes that might have been the most awkward or uncomfortable. I remember us sitting down the days before and coming up with all the different styles we were going to do.

“So we decided, ‘Oh, we should do this part’. And, ‘Oh, someone should be humping her leg’. Ha ha! She came up with a lot of the stuff that we did.” Yorgos added that he finds it “strange” that sex is “such a taboo”, explaining: “It was never an issue for me.

“Sex or violence or love or… It was all the same to me. I dealt with them all the same way.” Lanthimos struggled to get funding from UK execs and funding bodies, confessing the movie was “rejected” several times.
