Emmerdale exit ‘sealed’ as stars tease explosive twist that ‘changes everything’

Emmerdale stars Zoe Henry and Mark Charnock have hinted at a dramatic exit in the pipeline, as a courtroom twist “changes everything”.

The actors, who play Rhona Goskirk and Marlon Dingle, teased the future of their characters amid a custody battle with Rhona’s ex Gus Malcolms over baby Ivy. Fans will recall that Gus and his late partner Lucy used embryos Rhona had frozen years ago without her knowledge.

Tragically, Lucy died during Ivy’s birth, leading Rhona to step in and help Gus care for their daughter. However, Rhona soon developed maternal feelings for Ivy, causing tension with Gus.

This has led to a series of clashes over Ivy’s future, culminating in Rhona facing kidnap charges and Gus being accused of fraud related to the stolen embryos. With Rhona recently found not guilty, it’s now Gus’ turn to face the jury.

However, a shocking event in the courtroom “changes everything”, leaving Rhona stunned. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Zoe and Mark hinted at the storyline’s direction and a potential exit for Gus, with Zoe admitting Rhona wants her ex “out of the way”.

Zoe spilled the beans, saying: “I think it would have been an easier journey for, not an easy journey, but an easier journey for Rhona, because there’s that primal instinct of this is my child. And I don’t mean to sound sexist, but sometimes I think it is sort of a gut reaction female-wise. It’s an instinct that just kicks in. And I think, perhaps for Marlon, it’s been a different journey.”

She dished more dirt: “Rhona does something that I’m like, ‘hang on a minute’. What she does in court, is that premeditated? Because that changes everything. What she does is tell the truth and it just takes her by surprise, which is kind of what happens in that moment.”

“I think truth be told, Rhona would love Gus, in a magical fairytale way, to just disappear, and to have that baby and just be a happy family unit all together. But she also knows that’s not particularly fair.”

Mark chimed in: “Marlon falls in love with the baby, and he’s ready to go for it. But it’s taken him a while to get there.”

Emmerdale airs on weekdays from 7.30pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
