Emmerdale fans ‘feel sick’ and fear for Belle as sinister Tom King twist ‘sealed’

Concerned Emmerdale viewers are convinced they know what’s next for evil Tom King.

In recent episodes, fans saw Tom hide a job opportunity from her at Take A Vow, which left her furious after Suzy Merton revealed news of the vacancy to her. Belle soon became suspicious of Tom’s behaviour, which led to an awkward confrontation where she accused him of lying.

However, cunning Tom quickly managed to turn the situation back on her in manipulative scenes. And in Wednesday’s episode (March 20), things took a sinister turn after Belle accepted the job and started work at the wedding planning business immediately.

And a jealous Tom was left fuming, especially after learning that Belle’s first client was “super hot”. In a bid to interrupt their meeting, twisted Tom then deliberately injured himself at the vets before calling Belle in a panic.

Horrified, Belle rushed over with doctor Liam Cavanagh, who was suspicious of the minor injury, reports the Mirror. Belle then stormed out before Tom arrived at Take A Vow to apologise with gifts.

However, she was having none of it, telling him she needed to make a good impression on her first day. Belle managed to impress the client despite Tom’s attempts to mess it up, and planned to meet her later that evening instead – only for Tom to overhear and decide to scratch the client’s car. And when the client was alone, Tom ruined the arrangement by spreading nasty rumours about Take A Vow and shared private details about Leyla Harding’s past drug problem.

Later, Belle was really upset when she found out that the client had cancelled, before telling Tom about her worries of losing her new job. But Tom, now pretending to be the good guy, comforted Belle.

On X (formerly Twitter), one person reacted in disgust: “Tom is a psychopath. Scared for Belle #Emmerdale”. Another wrote: “Hope Tom gets found out soon about his controlling behaviour early before his controlling behaviour gets worse #emmerdale.”

A third penned: “Tom makes me feel sick #Emmerdale.” And a fourth soap fan said: “I think Suzie is going twig that’s Tom’s a wrong’un pretty quickly tbh, which is probably why he REALLY doesn’t want Belle working there #Emmerdale.”

Emmerdale announced earlier this year details in how it will portray Belle and Tom’s controlling and abusive marriage. Tom has shown signs of coercive control, which could turn into physical as well as mental abuse. The soap will delve into the complex issue of domestic abuse in the coming weeks, showing different forms of abuse such as coercive control, emotional abuse, physical abuse and tech-facilitated abuse by Tom. It will also show how abuse escalates over time and how isolation from loved ones, love bombing, and manipulation can be used.

The ITV show has teamed up with external partners to research the tough topic, as well as the domestic abuse charity New Beginnings Peer Support. This comes after a rise in Tech Abuse following the Covid pandemic, which involves using trackers and hidden cameras to control and monitor a partner.
