Emmerdale fans ‘shouting at the TV’ as Rhona faces prison after court showdown with ex

Emmerdale’s Rhona Goskirk has put her freedom as risk.

The village vet appeared in court during Thursday’s (April 11) hour-long episode of the ITV1 as she’s accused of kidnapping baby Ivy. However, things didn’t go quite to plan as she ended up ranting at the judge.

She lost her temper as she questioned over what really happened when she fled the village with the newborn. Viewers know she took Ivy after her ex-husband Gus Malcolms (Alan McKenna) plotted an escape to France after fraudulently obtaining Rhona’s embryos and implanting them into his then wife Lucy Malcolms (Charlotte Asprey).

However, Lucy sadly died in childbirth after welcoming Ivy and Rhona ended up caring for the biological child and Gus, before realising that he planned to take the child away from him. During the court case everything from Rhona’s drug addiction and her recent troubles with Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) were brought up to try to discredit her.

When the barrister goaded Rhona into losing her temper about Ivy, she did in spectacular style. He asked her why she broke the law and she replied: :Then I would question the rule of law on this. I am here to try and stop you from sending me to prison when I am clearly the victim.

“The law is an ass quite frankly. I’m sorry but he stole from me. He allowed another woman to give birth to my child without me having a say or a right to argue. And now when I want to have an opinion how that child, is raised, I am accused of abduction and kidnap.

Fans were left “screaming at the TV” after spotting Gus Malcolms smerking

“It’s insanity. Ivy is my child in every way that matters. And you have to believe that I only took her because I love her. She is my daughter.” The judge intervened to give Rhona a break until the following day, while Gus sat smugly in the gallery.

Taking to social media after spotting Gus’ smirk, one fan penned: Feel like punching that Gus through the telly.” Another added: “Me to he needs to go to jail after what he has done.”

Will Rhona lose her case?

A third person said: “Literally shouting at the TV! My dad keeps telling me to calm down.” A fourth fan said: “Can’t watch it makes me angry horrible man.” As they left the court, Gus told Rhona: “Well done Rhona You offended the judge, the jury thinks you’re hysterical and it turns out we didn’t need to get the drug addiction to stick.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
