Emmerdale return ‘sealed’ as fans baffled over Charity breakdown after shooting

Emmerdale fans are confused about Charity Dingle’s behaviour in recent episodes.

On Christmas Day, Charity (Emma Atkins) ended up killing Damon ‘Harry’ Harris (Robert Beck) in self-defence after he pulled a gun on Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb). Despite trying to put the incident behind her, it’s clear Charity is struggling with knowing she took someone’s life.

During Tuesday’s instalment (January 9) of the ITV soap, Charity was met with another visit from a police officer. She was stunned when the officer confirmed they wouldn’t be pressing charges in Harry’s death.

Mack was delighted by the news, but Charity appeared concerned. Later, Charity headed to The Woolpack to celebrate her birthday with her family.

But things began to get on top of the barmaid, and she lashed out at Kyle (Huey Quinn) after he popped a balloon in her face. At the end of the episode, Charity almost had a panic attack before she convinced herself to “pull it together.”

Fans seem baffled by Charity’s behaviour, branding the storyline “laughable”. One viewer wrote: “Charity acting like she’s caring about a man that she accidentally killed is boring. Let’s get her back feisty.”

A second added: “Why is charity acting like she’s never used or seen a gun before.” Another agreed: “Charity having PTSD now is laughable. Why have they ruined her character? Get her back with Nessa. They had such a good relationship. Much better than with the manchild.

Someone else echoed: “As if this is the reason for Charity’s PTSD if they were gonna do this story they should’ve done it after bails, this is absolute bs and not a character trait. Charity pretending to give a shit about killing a man in self defence Erm no, she’s ruthless by nature mate.”

Emmerdale fans have begged for Vanessa to return

Others believe this is the perfect time for Charity’s ex-girlfriend Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) to return. One shared online: “so charity is spiralling and Vanessa is coming back… I think this is the perfect set up to reunite #vanity. Vanessa is about the only person charity can actually to talk to and whom charity listens to.”

A second penned: “I’m getting impatient now…all I want is Vanessa back on screen…vanity reunited…some cute scenes between them & if Mack could leave that would be great also.” While another declared: “Charity needs Vanessa.”
