Gogglebox fans fume as Channel 4 show makes major change – ditching fan favourite

For the first time in its 11-year history, Gogglebox has changed its iconic theme song, and the viewers aren’t having it.

For 23 series, Perfect World by Kodaline has been synonymous with the programme, with millions of Brits across the country settling into their armchairs to watch other people give their opinions on television shows they could watch themselves.

However, thanks to the casting genius of the producers, the viewers keep coming back for more, so long as they’re able to keep the theme song they hold so close to their hearts.

But on tonight’s episode, everything changed, with Channel 4 opting to go for a remix of the classic track for one night only.

Thus, when the fans settled down with a steaming cup of hot chocolate in one hand and a can of Pringles in the other, to watch their favourite show, they were shaken to the core.

Bamboozled by the shocking turn of events, a plethora of fans took to social media, with one confused viewer writing: “Why have they changed the Gogglebox theme tune? Totally threw me off,” proceeded by several laughing emojis.

Another couldn’t quite believe what he was hearing, commenting: “Is the theme tune different, or am I hearing things?” Worryingly, a third feared the worst, writing: “What is that new music? I thought someone had died.”

And a fourth made a very interesting analogy that probably won’t go down too well with Channel 4. He said: “Sounds like the Gogglebox theme tune has had an accident with an ice cream van.”

With many a viewer concerned for the future of the show, they needn’t have anything to worry about. The iconic track has merely been changed to promote the second series of The Piano, which will hit our screens on April 28.

The innovative talent show, presented by Claudia Winkleman, gives inspiring pianists the opportunity to play live across some of the country’s busiest train stations. However, what they don’t know is that they’re actually entering a competition, judged by music legends Lang Lang and Mika.

The two successful artists will then pick their favourite acts to play to an audience of thousands in the show’s grand finale.
