Gogglebox return date confirmed by Channel 4 – and fans don’t have long to wait

Gogglebox’s return date has been revealed by Channel 4 after two months away.

Series 22 of the beloved Channel 4 show, which sees households across the UK offer their unfiltered opinions on the latest TV moments, finished at the beginning of December last year. Fans were treated to a Christmas special and an episode rounding up the best of 2023.

But it’s now been confirmed that new episodes of Gogglebox, series 23, will start airing from Friday February 16. Its not yet known whether new families have joined the cast.

It comes after the heartbreaking news that Gogglebox star Pat Webb has died at the age of 75. She was the mum of fan-favourite Stephen and appeared on the show from series 10 until 12.

Her passing was announced by Gogglebox on social media. In a statement, they wrote: “We are deeply saddened to announce that Gogglebox star Mummy Pat Webb passed away this weekend at the age of 75 after a long illness.

“Pat was a much loved cast member on the show from series 10 -12 alongside her son Stephen. Mummy Pat will be remembered and missed by her children Stephen, Denise, Sharon, Beverley and the extended family. Our thoughts are with the family who have requested privacy at this sad time.”

Stephen, 52, posted his own moving tribute to his beloved mum alongside a number of snaps shared on Instagram. The reality star penned: “Mummy Pat, you were one in a million, took everyone at face value, would share your last fiver with a stranger, the salt of the earth and the absolute centre of our world! Rest in peace mum.”

The emotional post was met with messages from support from fans who sent their condolences. Former Gogglebox star Lisa Baggs penned: “Oh Stephen I’m so sorry ! Your mum was so funny when you were both on Gogglebox. Sending you, Daniel and your family so much love x x x.”
