Harry Potter’s Warwick Davis’ final ‘date night’ photo with wife before her tragic death

Harry Potter star Warwick Davis shared a poignant final photo with his wife Samantha before her tragic death at the age of 53.

The actor released an emotional statement following her death, saying: “Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs.” He described his late wife as his “most trusted confidant and an ardent supporter of everything I did in my career”.

“She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life she had a wicked sense of humour and always laughed at my bad jokes,” he added. Their children Harrison and Annabelle also paid tribute to their late mother, saying her “love and happiness carried us through our whole lives”.

The actor shared the snap on his Instagram account as they both got dressed up for the date. He cheekily wrote in the caption: “A long overdue date night with my beautiful wife. She felt a bit overdressed for McDonald’s!” reports the Mirror.

Fans flooded the couple with messages of support, with one gushing: “You two are just amazing. Hope you had a great time.” Another chimed in: “Awwww. No better to have a date night than McDonald’s.”

A third admirer shared: “An awesome couple.” In his poignant tribute, Warwick expressed: “With her by my side, I was sure I could achieve anything, it was like having a super-power.”

“Without Sammy, there would have been no Tenable quiz show, no Willow series. No Idiot Abroad Series 3. She was passionate about helping people, without judgment. She had time for everyone and a genuine listening ear.”

Samantha lived with achondroplasia, which is a bone growth disorder causing disproportionate dwarfism. She was recognised for her acting work in Through the Dragon’s Eye, ShortFellas, and Honky Sausages, and even snagged an uncredited role next to her hubby in the 1988 fantasy flick Willow.

Warwick, who shot to fame as Ewok Wicket in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, first laid eyes on his future bride Samantha on the Willow set when he was a mere 17 years old. Samantha, only 16 at the time, was on set due to her dad Peter Burroughs’ gig in the movie and nabbed Warwick’s attention while working as an extra.

Samantha faced a terrifying fight with sepsis back in 2019. Warwick shared the chilling details of the ordeal that struck just before a family holiday in their caravan.

He said: “We went home a week later and suddenly I couldn’t feel my legs. I thought I was still recovering from the surgery so I went to bed, but the next day I felt awful, as though I had been hit by a truck.”

“I stayed in bed all day while Warwick and Harrison went to a family party and the next morning I woke at 4am feeling even worse.”

Samantha described the frightening progression of her symptoms, saying, “As the day went on I couldn’t concentrate, I lay on the sofa and when I tried to get up I collapsed on the floor.”
