‘Horror movie of the year’ leaves viewers ‘sick to their stomachs’ and in tears

The ‘horror movie of the year’ has been branded so scary it made viewers ‘sick to their stomachs’ and left some in tears.

Supernatural Hollywood flick The First Omen has been hailed as a high point for the franchise which is nearly 50 years old. Described by critics as frequently frightening, it’s a prequel to the 1976 Richard Donner classic, and the sixth film in the series overall.

It follows an American woman sent to work at a church in Rome who uncovers a sinister conspiracy to bring about the birth of the antichrist. During her time there she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate.
