ITV show returns to air after ratings skyrocket as host says ‘I can’t wait to be back’

Deal or No Deal is set to return to our screens once again after ITV ordered another season to be produced.

Bosses at the channel saw a huge rise in the number of people tuning into to watch the return of the iconic gameshow. In total, nearly 14 million viewers watched the revived version of the show, which was hosted by Stephen Mulhern.

Compared to other shows including Jeopardy! and Tipping Point, which often fill the 4pm slot on the station’s daytime schedule, Deal or No Deal dominated. Figures from the broadcaster found that viewership for the time were up by 38% on previous stats.

Now, producers at the channel have given the green light to have another season of the show with host Stephen returning to present the programme. The show will continue to feature everyday people but will also include four celebrity specials that will be filmed alongside the regular season.

ITV is now looking for a new batch of contestants to take part in the show, with applications for the new series to be opened soon. Host Stephen was also thrilled that the show was picked up for another series, as he enjoyed following in the footsteps of former host Noel Edmonds.

“I am absolutely over the moon that Deal or No Deal is returning to our screens,” Mulhern beamed. “The response has been incredible and series one was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. I loved it!”

He continued: “The contestants were a fantastic bunch facing the banker and our new batch of players need to hold their nerve if they want to walk away with the huge jackpot! It’s such a phenomenal show and I’m absolutely chuffed to bits that we’re going to be doing it all over again. I can’t wait to get back to that studio.”

ITV’s Head of Entertainment Katie Rawcliffe added that she was “delighted” that ITV viewers were so on board with the latest series of the show. She also quipped that a simple but effective format, coupled with a charismatic host was “the perfect combination” for the programme.
