Accompanying her post were snaps of a cute Easter egg tree and a Sunday carvery. One fan wrote in response: “You all deserve it Kate after everything you’ve been through! A third added: “You always so considerate of everyone else. Have a lovely Easter with your kids xxx.” And a fourth said: “Happy Easter Kate to you and your family look after yourself.”

Speaking in her documentary in a clip recorded in February, Kate revealed she didn’t feel any sense of relief when Derek passed away. “We’ve got the Lego which never was finished,” she said. “Actually this is the book he was reading, very slowly, at the very end and this is as far as he got. I said to him, trust you to be reading A Little Life, because if anybody had a big life it was Derek and it’s left a big hole.

“A lot of people, as a way of comforting me I think, say it must be a relief in a way that he’s out of pain. And for you, that your day isn’t consumed with caring for him, but there isn’t a relief.”

She added: “I think if I have any regrets, it’s every single minute that I didn’t spend holding his hand because I had to go and write an email, I had to go and make a phone call, having to fight the system that should be there to catch you when you’re fall, but feels when you’re going through it like it’s there to catch you out. And that’s what now I want to be Derek’s legacy to fight on for that change.”
