Kate Middleton’s Celebrity Big Brother star uncle slams Prince Harry in ‘racism’ row

Celebrity Big Brother star Gary Goldsmith has hit out at Prince Harry over claims he threw his niece Kate Middleton “under the bus”.

Businessman Gary entered the CBB house on Monday night (March 4) with ITV bosses hoping he will spill the beans on Royal Family matters. The 58-year-old, who is the brother of Kate’s mum, Carole, insists he would never do anything to upset his “beautiful” niece.

The royals were said to be terrified at the prospect of Gary entering the house when news leaked of his likely inclusion in January, with some conspiracists even suggesting it as a possible reason for Kate’s two-month absence from the public eye. Gary clearly only has nice things to say about the Princess of Wales, however, describing her as a “doting mum” in a “family-centric” family.

He told the Sun of claims she is racist: “That’s why I got so upset with Harry and Meghan because you don’t put a stick into that spoke and reinvent history. I’ve got pretty miffed when they had a pop at my beautiful niece who couldn’t say anything for herself.”

Gary added that the timing of Harry’s accusations in the pair’s 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey were “totally unnecessary” at the time, given all that was happening with the Queen as she approached her Platinum Jubilee.

His comments come in relation to author Omid Scobie alleging in the Dutch translation of his Endgame book last year that King Charles and Kate asked Harry and Meghan what colour their son Archie’s skin colour could be. Gary added: “It’s absolute bull***t and I didn’t hide my feelings very well when I was offered the opportunity to say something, I just thought I’d say it as I saw it. I did think I caught the tone of the nation,” raged Gary.

He added: “Kate is 100% not racist, neither is Carole. My family is not racist and for Kate to be portrayed as that is just so far removed from the truth, it’s ridiculous.”

Chatting to hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best on launch night, meanwhile, when they asked if Kate would tune in, Gary gave a surprising response. He joked: “If so it’ll be behind the sofa!” A curious AJ asked him which sofa he was referring to in a bid to find out where she is, to which Gary replied: “It will be a nice one, in a nice house.”

As question marks over her whereabouts continue, Kate is reportedly getting better after having an operation on her tummy that was planned. The Palace said she had the surgery back in January, but is recovering well.

She won’t be doing any royal work until Easter or later. People are really curious about how she’s doing, but the Palace has revealed there will be no further updates unless something major happens.
