Love Island star rushed to hospital as concerned pal waits by bedside for 10 hours

Love Island’s Chris Hughes had to be rushed to hospital after he suddenly fell ill.

The 31-year-old reality star shared that his friend stayed with him in the hospital for a 10 hours without any sleep. Luckily, Chris is now getting better and he thanked the doctors and nurses for their care.

On his Instagram Story, he posted a picture of himself looking poorly on a hotel bed and another one of him in the hospital hooked up to a heart monitor and an IV. He wrote: “Took a turn on Wednesday, the NHS staff were incredible. Not just caring, friendly and all the things you’d expect, but more the way they conduct themselves.

“The situations they deal with day in day out, and the way they’re spoken to on occasions shocked me. Their patience is incredible and the staff are amazing. Really are unsung heroes so thank you.” He added: “Also @jason.brightman I appreciate you, sat beside me for 10 hours through the night on a plastic chair without a second of sleep. I think I could count on one hand the people who would have done that for me. Maybe one and a half hands. On the mend anyway x.”

This incident comes four years after Chris had another emergency trip to the hospital before his appearance at Cheltenham. It was later confirmed that he had visited A&E due to pain from suspected kidney stones. Chris’ representative said at the time: “Chris has been in some pain with suspected kidney stones – it has alleviated overnight after his trip to the hospital and some medicine.”

He had health problems before, so in 2018, he decided to freeze his sperm. While on Loose Women, he shared that when he was 14, he found a bunch of veins coming from his kidney on his left testicle. But he didn’t go to the doctor until he was 20 because he felt “embarrassed”. “I had my sperm from that frozen in case it didn’t work,” he explained.

He also mentioned that these issues run in his family, saying: “My brother is completely infertile but he had a miracle child… my cousin had testicular cancer so we’ve all got problems down there.”
