Love Island stars were issued warnings after coming across as ‘nasty’, winner says

Love Island star Ekin Su has opened up a whole can of worms for ITV after she claimed producers would step in to warn islanders about their behaviour.

The Turkish beauty, who appeared on the programme back in 2022, explained that executives would swoop in to let the cast know if their actions had come across as “nasty”. While the stunning social media influencer didn’t drop any names into the mix, she confirmed that it “did happen”.

While we all know that the fan-favourite is a reality programme and somewhat setup to a certain degree for our very own viewing entertainment, the fact that Ekin Su has confirmed that islanders are made aware of their actions, despite not having a phone or social media, almost certainly detracts away from the format of the show that we’ve all grown to know and love over the years.

During an interview with Spin Genie, the reality star who famously crawled through the bedroom to the terrace for a secret snog with Jay Younger on the dating programme, lifted the lid on what really went down behind closed doors. When asked if producers get involved if a contestant had behaved badly, she wasn’t holding back with her honest answer.

She told the interviewer: “Yes, if they felt someone had been nasty to someone else they would intervene and pull that person aside to warn them about how they were coming across. This happened but I was in my own world so I can’t remember who exactly they did this with.”

On Tuesday 30th January, it came to light that Ekin Su and her Love Island beau Davide Sanclimenti had parted ways for a second time since their time in the Spanish villa. The pair who had a rocky time on the programme, have seemingly not had much luck on the outside either.

After winning the show in 2022, Ekin-Su and Davide initially split last June before deciding to reconcile on a holiday to Turkey for Ekin’s birthday. With the couple releasing statements yesterday confirming it was over for a second time.

In a statement shared to Instagram, Ekin-Su requested for privacy as she tried to move on from her relationship breakdown with Davide. She penned: “I enjoyed our time together and will cherish the memories we made.

“Thank you for your continued support,” while adding: “It’s been so lovely to have you follow our Love Island journeys together since the villa and we hope you’ll continue to follow our careers as we go off in our own directions.”

Davide has since replied in his own words, claiming that their had been a last minute adaption with the “mutual statement” that he was unaware of. He followed up with: “Life sometimes reserves surprises and suddenly wakes you up.”

He confirmed: “Ekin and I, just after the ski holidays, decided to go different ways. It was a joint decision but I was waiting to make it public to respect her time in the show [The Traitors]. I don’t know why the agreed statement changed last minute.”
