Malcolm in the Middle icon admits he’s banned son from acting – despite own fame

Malcolm In The Middle star Frankie Muniz is not willing to let his son go into acting.

During an appearance on Australia’s Pedestrian.TV, Muniz said: “I would never let my kid go into the business and not that I had a negative experience, because to be honest my experience was 100 percent positive, but I know so many people, friends that were close to me, that had such insanely negative experiences.”

Muniz confessed that he wasn’t bothered by “rejection” but wouldn’t want his son to go through that too. Frankie continued: “I just think it’s an ugly world in general. I never cared about rejection, but there’s a ton of rejection.”

Frankie opened up about his career in the spotlight ahead of his stint on the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, during which Robert Irwin is set to make his debut as host. Muniz was just 14 when he rose to fame after playing Malcolm alongside Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston.

Muniz starred as Malcolm in the legendary 2000s show

He earned an Emmy award for his role, which earned him a number of other characters in recent years. Muniz is also known for starring in Agent Cody Banks, Big Fat Liar and Fairly Odd Parents.

Malcolm In The Middle first aired back in 2000 and ran for seven seasons with 151 episodes. The show finally ended in 2006 after a huge reception and achieving a cult following.

The dark comedy sitcom follows Malcolm, a so-called child prodigy, as he navigates life living with his dysfunctional family. Throughout the series, Malcolm often makes hilarious anecdotes to the camera.

Since the show ended almost 20 years ago, Muniz has since turned to motorsports. The former child actor put his acting career on hold back in 2008 to begin racing and competed in the Atlantic Championship.

Back in 2021, Frankie took an interest in stock cars and finished fourth in the ARCA Menards Series two years later. Currently, Muniz is a part-time competitor in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and drives a No. 35 Ford Mustang for Joey Gase Motorsports.
