Michelle Keegan and Maya Jama ‘set to battle it out’ for next Bond Girl role

Michelle Keegan and Maya Jama are reportedly battling it out to become the next Bond Girl in what is shaping up to be a sizzling showdown.

With the new 007 flick gearing up to begin production later in 2024, bookies are buzzing with bets that the two beauties are front-runners for the glamorous gig. The rumour mill went into overdrive after whispers this week suggested Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 33, is poised to don the tux as the next James Bond.

Naturally, every Bond needs his leading lady, and Coral have thrown Michelle and Maya’s names into the ring. Maya, the dazzling Love Island host, has seen her chances surge with odds now standing at a tempting 5-1.

Former Coronation Street star Michelle’s prospects have been trimmed to an enticing odds-on 4-5, meanwhile, after chatter she’s itching for a Hollywood breakthrough.

Coral’s John Hill explained: “Many punters believe Michelle Keegan will join Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the next Bond film as the female lead. The Fool Me Once star is now odds-on in our betting to be involved. But we have also seen some outside support for Maya Jama. The Love Island presenter has had her odds slashed in half to be the female lead,” reports the Mirror.

A source claimed in the Sun, that a “formal offer is on the table” for Aaron to finally put an end to the Bond rumours, but that’s apparently been knocked on the head. Another insider told the BBC it’s all hot air with “no truth in the rumours”.

Gambling.com has thrown its chips into the rumour mill, suggesting that based on the bookies’ buzz, Michelle is a hot bet to land the first post-Daniel Craig era Bond Girl role. However, the web site states she’s currently trailing behind Jodie Comer, the face of BBC’s hit show Killing Eve.

Entertainment pundit James Leyfield from the outlet has clocked Jodie at odds of 6/4, but whispers are that Michelle is breathing down her neck. After her stint in Netflix’s Fool Me Once, she’s shot up from third place at 5/2 to a close second with odds now standing at 7/4.

Kaya Scodelario, aged 32 and fresh from her role in Netflix’s The Gentlemen, is currently pegged as the third favourite with odds of 5/2. Her CV boasts of titles like Skins, and there’s chatter that bigwigs are eyeing Denis Villenueve to helm the new Bond saga.
