My 600lb Life’s Melissa marks 18 years since 500lb weight loss as family reunites with doctor

My 600lb Life’s Melissa Morris has celebrated a huge milestone after first appearing on the show.

Melissa, who went on the show at 692lbs, opened up about her struggles with food addiction and overeating while on the TLC show. She also shared her fears that her weight would mean she would be unable to have children.

Adamant to turn her life around she took part in the show and while her weight loss journey took around seven years, after a gastric surgery she was down to 157lbs. And now, 18 years since she had her surgery, she’s celebrated with her family.

Celebrating the big day, Melissa took a photo of her children and the doctor who did the surgery.

She said: “18 years ago today my life changed when Dr. Younan Nowzaradan performed my Weight Loss Surgery. Thank you Dr. Now for giving me this amazing life to look forward towards everyday. I love and respect you more than words can express.

“I also want to thank the staff that has been their this entire ride!”

In 2019, Melissa took a job working for celebrity doctor and My 600lb Life weight loss expert Dr Now and she has praised him ever since.

Her followers quickly flocked to the comments to praise her on her epic weight loss as one user wrote: “Your story was one of my favourites. So happy you achieved your dream of motherhood, your kiddos are adorable.”

Melissa has been open about her weight loss journey in recent years after detailing her journey on social media and TLC. Previously speaking about her weight loss she said: “I could tell you this whole journey was easy, but that would be a lie. But it wouldn’t be a lie to tell you it was worth it.”
