Only Fools star David Jason reveals he goes for rides on his model steam train

Sir David Jason says he goes for rides on his model steamtrain.

The TV legend, famed for playing Rodney’s brother Del Boy on Only Fools And Horses, has it set up in his garden and it’s big enough to drive. He said: “I can sit on it and there’s a carriage that you can sit on as well and that takes two.

“At a push, it takes three people. It’s good fun. It’s more reliable because it’s steam.

The famous British actor, 84, built the model himself. He said: “You buy it as a kit.

“It comes from Japan and then you undo the bits and you start and bolt up the bits and you build it slowly over time. It’s a five-inch gauge, which means that’s five inches between wheels, that’s the track that it sits on.

He used to star on Only Fools and Horses

“The train is about five feet seven inches in length.” David has even ordered a second kit, saying: “I will get it fired up once the weather is less inclement.”
