Paddy McGuinness admits ‘money’s run out’ before bagging new BBC travel show

Paddy McGuinness is back with a bang, landing a brand new TV show after a bit of a rough patch.

The 50 year-old presenter had a tough time when some of his shows like Top Gear and A Question of Sport got cancelled. But now he’s set to travel Europe in a new series on BBC One, which we can also catch on iPlayer later this year.

He’s not just stopping there, Paddy’s also going to be the host of Channel 4’s game show Tempting Fortune for another season. And if you want even more Paddy time, he’ll be presenting a docu-series called Inside The Factory on BBC Two too.

A source told The Sun: “He’s had mixed fortunes recently with several of his shows getting the chop, but it looks like Paddy’s luck is changing.” Paddy’s new adventure will see him exploring Europe and it’s a fresh twist for him.

“He might even bring along a mate for the journey. It’s all part of the good news coming his way in his TV career.”

Paddy McGuinness has been chatting about how he’s got a lot on his plate these days. Not long ago, he said he was running low on money.

In December, the funny man from Take Me Out told everyone he’s going to be doing a big new comedy show in 2024. He popped up on This Morning to talk about his tour that starts in October and shared why it’s been eight years since his last one.

Paddy said with a shy smile: “Erm, well the money’s run out now so it took about eight years to spend it all and I’m like, ‘I’ve got to build it back up’. So weirdly, writing a tour and putting one on does take a lot of your time. When we had the breather from Top Gear, I’d been planning it for a long time, I went, ‘There’s a window there’.

“So I start it next year, but towards the back end of next year. And then it goes into 2025.” He let his fans know about his tour on Instagram just before.

He posted: “I’ve been itching to tell you this! After a six year break I’m finally back on Tour!!! Paddy McGuinness – Nearly There. All pre ticket sale links in my Bio. See you in the New Year… live!!!!”

While Paddy’s job is buzzing, things at home are a bit rocky. He split from wife Christine McGuinness but the pair continue to look after their three autistic children.

Back in July 2022, they mutually shared a statement to social media that read: “A while ago we took the difficult decision to separate but our main focus as always is to continue loving and supporting our children. We hadn’t planned on sharing this publicly until we were ready but after the lack of privacy surrounding our personal life, we feel left with no other option but to clarify.”

They added: “This was not an easy decision to make but we’re moving forward as the best parents we can be for our three beautiful children. We’ll always be a loving family, we still have a great relationship and still live happily in our family home together… Although we work in the public eye we ask kindly if you could respect our wishes for privacy on this matter.”
