Red Hot Chilli Pepper’s frontman lost virginity to father’s girlfriend aged 12

Red Hot Chilli Peppers star Anthony Kiedis lost his virginity to his father’s girlfriend aged just 12-years-old.

The excerpt in Anthony’s autobiography Scar Tissue reads: “One night, wen Anthony was 12, he went with his father to the Rainbow Room and Blackie’s girlfriend is there dancing for him. And Anthony asks: ‘Dad, can I have my first sexual experience with your girlfriend?,’ and Blackie says: ‘Sure, son.’ So they go back to the house and his dad builds a big bed out of four mattresses in his room and puts the girl next to him, and that’s how he loses his virginity.”

Kiedis moved to Hollywood and began living with his father Blackie Dammett when he was younger, which meant that Kiedis ended up in some seriously inappropriate situations for a child. In Scar Tissue, the singer recalled some of the times he tried illegal substances throughout his youth.

Dammett was a drug dealer and Anthony often experimented with drugs – aged 14, he accidentally tried heroin after thinking it was cocaine. Kiedis said: “Those trips to California were the happiest, most carefree, the-world-is-a-beautiful-oyster times I’d ever experienced.”

“I had been there only a few days when my dad called me into the kitchen. He was sitting at the table with a pretty 18-year-old girl he’d been hanging out with that week. ‘Do you want to smoke a joint,’ he asked me. Then he lit up the joint and passed it to me. ‘Be careful, don’t take too much, you don’t want to cough your lungs out,’ he counselled.”

“I realised I was high. I love the sensation. It felt like medicine to soothe the soul and awaken the senses.” Anthony Kiedis later went on to front the iconic rock band Red Hot Chilli Peppers, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2012.

Many of the band’s songs feature topics such as sex and life in L.A., but the band later moved on to heartfelt themes including addiction and grief. Kiedis struggled with addiction but decided to get clean back in 2000 and has remained so.
