Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have announced they are getting divorced after a relationship spanning 20 years.
Writing on her Instagram story on Friday (April 5), Isla revealed the pair had jointly filed to end their marriage last year. The former Home and Away actress wrote: “After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our rackets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change.”
Sacha, known for his comedy roles as Borat and Ali G shared the post to his own story shortly afterwards, meanwhile. The pair met in 2001 and went on to marry in a Jewish ceremony nine years later, whilst they share daughters Olive, 17, Elula, 13, and son Montgomery, nine.

Their relationship seemed rosy in 2020 when Sacha told the New York Times: “She was hilarious. We were at a very pretentious party, and me and her bonded over taking the mick out of the other people in the party. I knew instantly. I don’t know if she did. It’s taken her about 20 years to know.”

Isla, 48, was largely private about their romance, however. “I’m not really comfortable talking about my private life and Sacha and I are probably very similar in that we hide our feelings behind humour,” she explained in 2008.
Speaking to Marie Claire though, she later gushed that meeting Sacha was like “winning the lottery” before admitting that their then-successful relationship was due to their similar sense of humour and the fact that they are polar opposites.

And last year on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Isla got involved in a game of Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts in which she made a startling admission about their bedroom antics. She and teammate Niall Horan were faced with scoffing everything from cow tongue to bird saliva if they didn’t answer the questions put to them by their opponents.
With Ewan McGregor facing off with Isla in the hot seat, the Australian actress was left red-faced as Ewan asked her: “Has your husband Sacha Baron Cohen ever done a character in bed? And if so, which one?”

Isla looked distressed during the segment and tried to ease Niall into the idea of eating one of the disgusting treats in front of them, as she said: “Niall, he’s a private guy…” Before they could tuck into a piece of cow tongue, however, Isla interjected: “No, no wait! No, you know what? He hasn’t done a character in bed, he hasn’t.”
But she confessed: “He’s had, like, a moustache, a handlebar moustache and he’s been Borat, or he’s had the blonde hair. You know, he’s been in characters visually, but I’ve never heard a ‘woo woo wee woo’ or something.”
