Spice Girls’ Mel B admits she Googles herself to remember how many kids she has

Mel B confessed she had to Google herself to remember when she got divorced and how many children she has because she had completely forgotten.

On Friday (March 29), the brunette beauty opened up about how her life has changed over the past few decades since she soared to stardom with the rest of the Spice Girls in the early 1990s. The 38-year-old singer was the latest guest to join Olivia Attwood on her new podcast, So Wrong It’s Right.

Things soon turned awkward when the former Love Island star asked the mum-of-three if she has ever Googled herself. It was at this point that the star candidly confessed she often searches her name to help her remember how old her little ones are.

Scary Spice admitted: “Oh I did have to do that not so long ago to find out when I actually did get divorced, so I could know what lawyer to contact to get my divorce papers. I think it’s useful if you forget stuff, like if you forget how many kids you’ve got or how old they are.”

Olivia cheekily pointed out: “It’s a useful took if you’re world famous” as the pair burst into laughter. Mel B was married to actor Jimmy Gulzar from 1998 to 2000 before she tied the knot to film producer Stephen Belafonte from 2007 to 2017.

Her divorce was Gulzar was completed back in 2000. But their separation was reported to be a bitter one, with the pair facing issues surrounding the custody of their daughter and difficult financial settlements.

In March 2017, she filed for divorce from Belafonte, citing irreconcilable differences and alleging physical and emotional abuse. The divorce was finalised in December that year, with Mel ordered to pay spousal support to her ex.

The hitmaker has since become an advocate for domestic violence survivors and works closely with the UK charity Women’s Aid. The singer is now engaged once again to hairdresser Rory Mcphee, with the couple set to tie the knot in St Paul’s Cathedral.

Later on in the podcast, Mel revealed that she also had to Google herself more recently when she was at the airport. She told Olivia: “I’d just come back from one of my ‘brain breaks’ in Thailand and I had a massive all over tan.

“I went to go and show my passport and the guy was like ‘no’, so I thought, that’s a bit racist, I’ve just got a tan.” The pop star revealed that she then searched her name online to prove to passport control that she was who she claimed to be.

“And then he let me through,” she giggled. Mel B went on to reveal that nobody actually knows how old her bandmate Geri Halliwell is as “no one’s seen her passport.”

She also hinted to Olivia that there will be a Spice Girls reunion in the future but shut down rumours that they would reconnect at Glastonbury. Reports had claimed that all five members of the girl band would be reuniting at the legendary music festival later this year.
