Strictly Come Dancing Layton Williams’ mystery health battle which he ‘pushes through’

Layton Williams has opened up on his hidden health problem.

The Strictly Come Dancing’s star’s issue resulted in him almost passing out on stage at times throughout his career. The 29-year old, who reached the final of Strictly in 2023 alongside dance professional and current Celebrity Big Brother star Nikita Kuzmin, also “fell flat on his face” in accident on Wednesday (March 13).

Layton, who stars in BBC Three sitcom, Bad Education, admitted he sometimes has to grab something to hold onto when he falls ill while performing. “I was clinging on to the structure of the set because I was about to pass out,” he confessed earlier this week. But adding that “no-one cares” when it happens, he says he “just pushes through” for himself.

Explaining his attitude on the Homo Sapiens podcast, Layton said that when he’s tried to combat stress or illness in the past, he’s felt no-one’s eyes were on him. “[There were times when I] just got a couple of tweets [after performances] – ‘Well done, you were good tonight’.”

Layton added that on occasion he covers up on-stage mistakes by improvising. “I’ll do something a little bit extra to combat it – just so you know: ‘I’m aware and here’s a little treat’,” he confessed.

Also to avoid embarrassment, the star admitted he’s had to “paraphrase words” in his performances in the past when his voice had started to crack. Accident-prone Layton took to X to detail his latest tumble.

Just fell flat on my face in my bedroom lol,” he wrote. “It’s my own fault I was dancing to Raye then tripped over my bed lol. Anyways, I’m safe and sound.”

One concerned follower responded: “Was you have a boogie? If so happens to the best of us my sweet. Silliness aside I hope you’re ok though.” Another asked: “Oh babe, I hope you are okay?? I’m looking forward to seeing you on Big Brother tonight looking you’re gorgeous self. And a third said: “Ouch! that must have hurt! be careful angel!”

Appearing on Big Brother: Late and Live on Wednesday, Layton was asked by host Will Best for his thoughts on Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu eyeing up Nikita – who is in a relationship. “That was really awkward to see,” he said. “By the way just because someone’s got a partner, it doesn’t mean that they’re necessarily interested in you anyway.

“I don’t really like that kind of angle. No shade… full shade. But then to go into the bedroom where he’s changing and to be giving him compliments, I’m just like, ‘Read the room’.”
