Twisted Mickey Mouse vs Winnie the Pooh film promises ‘violence, blood and gore’

A Mickey Mouse and Winnie The Pooh Crossover is in the works – but you might want to leave the kids at home for this horror reimagining.

Mickey vs Winnie is the latest instalment in the twisted horror franchise that sees popular children’s characters turned into slasher villains. iHorror has announced that they are in production on the new public domain movie, which will be directed by Glenn Doulas Packard.

According to Screen Rant: “The movie […] will pit Winnie The Pooh against the Steamboat Willie version of Mickey Mouse, which recently entered the public domain. Packard is also producing alongside Rachel Carter and iHorror’s Anthony Pernicka.”

Mickey vs. Winnie explains that back in 1920, “two convicts escape into a cursed forest” and are “dragged and consumed into the depths of the forest’s muddy heart”. It continued: “A century later, a group of thrill seeking friends unknowingly venture in to the same woods. Their Airbnb getaway takes a horrifying turn when the convicts mutate into twisted versions of childhood icons Mickey Mouse and Winnie The Pooh, and emerge to terrorise them.”

Mickey vs Winnie will see the iconic characters battling it out

According to the description, viewers are in for a “night of violence and gore” on screen as the group “battle against their now monstrous beloved childhood characters” and try to “break free from the forest’s grip”.

The horror version of Mickey will be based on the Steamboat Willie cartoon

“In a horrific spectacle Mickey and Winnie clash, painting the woods in a gruesome tableau of blood – a chilling testament to the curse’s insidious power.” Packard has spoken out ahead of the film’s release and Deadline reported that the film’s director promises horror fans a “tribute” to gore.

The publication reported that Glenn said: “Horror fans call for the thrill of witnessing icons like the new Aliens and Avengers sharing the screen. While licensing nightmares make such crossovers rare, Mickey vs Winnie serves as our tribute to that thrilling fantasy.”

Packard is set to produce the film under his banner Untouchables Entertainment. Deadline also reported that iHorror’s Pernicka said: “We’re thrilled to unveil this unique take to horror fans. The Mickey Mouse featured in our film is unlike any iteration audiences have encountered before.”
