The ‘No One’ hitmaker and the ‘Firewatcher’s Daughter’ singer get political as they urge their fans to vote in the U.S. election while releasing their collaboration ‘A Beautiful Noise’.

    Nov 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile have released the track they debuted during Thursday (29Oct20) night’s Every Vote Counts: A Celebration of Democracy U.S. TV special.
Keys co-hosted the benefit, aimed at encouraging viewers to vote in the American general election next week (03Nov20), and teamed up with her fellow Grammy winner for empowering new duet “A Beautiful Noise”, which the pair wrote with Ruby Amanfu, Brandy Clark, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna, Linda Perry, and Hailey Whitters.
In the song, they urge listeners to find their voices and stand up for what they believe in.
“When you band together it’s a choir of thunder and rain,” they sing. “I have a voice and I let it speak for the ones who aren’t yet really free.”

  • Alicia Keys Recalls Coming Close to Giving Christina Aguilera 'If I Ain't Got You'

    WENN

The ‘Girl on Fire’ singer opens up in a new interview about the story behind her 2004 track that stayed on Billboard Hot R’n’B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for over a year.
    Sep 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alicia Keys came close to giving Christina Aguilera her hit song “If I Ain’t Got You”.
The 2004 track helped catapult the Grammy winner to fame and it became the first song to stay on America’s Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs music chart for over a year, but Alicia’s hit almost belonged to someone else.
“There’s a really funny, amazing story around this song,” Alicia revealed during an interview with Stereogum. “I think we were on the same label at the time. She (Christina) reached out and was like, ‘Would you write something for me?’ And then it came through so many emails.”
“What a voice! I know I could write something fire for her. So time passed and I hadn’t written the song yet. And (the label) was like, ‘Do you have anything for Christina?’ I remember I had just recently written ‘If I Ain’t Got You’.”

Alicia eventually went on to pen Impossible for Christina’s 2002 album “Stripped”, but that song was born out of the conflict over “If I Ain’t Got You”.
“I told my A&R (manager) at the time, ‘Let’s play her If I Ain’t Got You’. He said, ‘Are you f**king crazy? We’re not giving her that song. Are you out your mind?’,” she recalled with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Why not? I’ll write a hundred more of those, it’s fine. I think she should hear it. I don’t really think it’s a big deal’. But I thought, ‘Fine, I’ll go write another song’. So I went off and wrote ‘Impossible’.”
Alicia cherishes the moments she shared at the recording studio with Christina while they laid down the vocals for “Impossible”, adding, “I went to cut it with her and I love how she sounded on it. It was such a cool vibe for us to be able to work together during those times… Iit’s really important to be in the same space to just get all the energy. That was great. She sounded so good and she’s very special too.”
“But I will never forget that I would have given away ‘If I Ain’t Got You’. Isn’t that crazy?”

  • Alicia Keys Gave Billie Eilish a Call After Seeing Her Discomfort Following Grammy Wins

    Instagram

The ‘No One’ singer can relate to Billie’s uneaseness at Grammy wins as she felt the same way after her 2002 triumphs so she made sure to let the younger star know she deserved the awards.
    Sep 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alicia Keys called Billie Eilish the day after the Grammy Awards to reassure her that she deserved all of her success.
The “Fallin’ ” singer was on hand to present Billie with the Best New Artist gong at the ceremony earlier this year (20), and the “Bad Guy” star’s clear discomfort at taking home five prizes at the music awards reminded Alicia of how she felt when she did the same back in 2002.
“There you are, with all these accolades and all this celebration – and you don’t know exactly what to do with it, or even why was it you,” Alicia told the BBC. “It feels almost like it’s overkill. You think, ‘Spread it around, don’t just give (the awards) to me,’ you know? I definitely recognise that, I understood that.”

So upon sensing Billie’s feelings surrounding her victories, Alicia gave her a ring the next day.
“I wanted to congratulate her because I was so happy for her, because not only does she have a beautiful voice but she’s not trying to fit in to the crowd – and that’s such an important thing to see,” she explained. “So when I called her I said, ‘Don’t for one second think that you didn’t deserve this. You deserve all of this, and don’t forget it.’ ”
“Because I remember I definitely felt like that for a long time. I thought I didn’t deserve what I was receiving, I didn’t deserve the greatness that I had inside of me.”

AceShowbiz – Producer Swizz Beatz raised a toast to his superstar wife Alicia Keys on Thursday, August 27 after becoming “the most certified female R&B artist of the millennium.”
Keys has overtaken Beyonce Knowles to snag the impressive title after racking up U.S. sales of 27.5 million certified digital singles in her career to date, according to officials at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
That figure puts the “Girl on Fire” hitmaker ahead of her close friend by 1.5 million units, and Beatz couldn’t contain his pride after discovering the big news, which Keys had kept to herself.
The hip-hop star congratulated the singer on the achievement in a sweet video message filmed at the couple’s home, where Keys had been washing dishes in the kitchen.
As she notices Beatz filming, the camera-shy musician runs away laughing, before accepting a glass of wine from her man to acknowledge her career milestone.
“This is serious! The highest selling R&B female artist of the decade…, beating everybody – everybody, and you’re just going to walk around the house, wash dishes, don’t say nothing about that (sic)?” Beatz lovingly questions her.
“That’s big,” he adds. “Congrats baby.”

In the accompanying caption, the multi-Grammy-winning star attributed the massive feat to the support of her loyal fans.
“He’s always creepin’ up on me!!” Keys quipped of her man. “He thinks I’m too humble but that’s just me.”
“I’m grateful. I’m honored that you chose to connect with me and show me so much love!! Wow!! The most certified female R&B artist of the millennium????? I had to re-look up the word millennium!!! deaammmmnnnn and just putting my humility to the side for a sec…20 million albums sales and 27.5 million certified digital sales (US) just sayin’ (sic).”
She continued, “But listen for real y’all, you are my heart! You are so important to me! So let’s keep dreaming big, and choosing love and being about each other cuz the world needs us BAD right now (sic)!!! And HATE can never win! We won’t let it!”
Keys wrapped up her post by sharing her gratitude to her husband of 10 years, “I love you all and I love my hubby for always helping me celebrate even when I’m just washing dishes around the house.”
Referencing her next, self-titled release, she concluded, “ALICIA album…. I’ll tell you when I’m ready… cheers fam (sic)!!”

  • Alicia Keys Tackles Racial Injustice in New Song 'Perfect Way to Die'

In the wake of Black Lives Matter protests, the ‘No One’ hitmaker marks the Juneteenth with the release of an emotional ballad about a mother who’s lost her son to police violence.
    Jun 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Alicia Keys has addressed the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests in her new single “A Perfect Way to Die”.
The track, which was released on Friday, June 19, 2020, which is also Juneteenth – when the Emancipation Proclamation was read to Texan slaves on June 19, 1865, after the South lost the U.S. Civil War – features the star unleashing her feelings about police brutality.
“I have felt called by music like I have never felt before,” Keys wrote in an Instagram caption debuting the song. “I have been following its lead. It has led me to the song A Perfect Way to Die. The song title is so powerful and heartbreaking because WE are heartbroken by so many who have died unjustly.”
    [embedded content]
The emotional song is written from the perspective of a mother who’s lost her son to police violence and comes weeks after the death of African-American man George Floyd, which sparked protests against police brutality worldwide.
“Of course, there is NO perfect way to die,” Keys continued. “That phrase doesn’t even make sense. Just like it doesn’t make sense that there are so many innocent lives that should not have been taken from us due to the destructive culture of police violence.”
Following the release, the singer will face off against John Legend as part of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s latest “Verzus” battle. Tune in at 5 P.M. ET on John and Alicia’s Instagram pages.
