    HBO/Craig Blankenhorn

The actor, who plays Sarah Jessica Parker’s former onscreen fiance, is expected to reunite with the Carrie Bradshaw depicter on the upcoming revamp ‘And Just Like That…’

    Apr 16, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
“Sex and the City” fan favorite John Corbett has signed on to reunite with Sarah Jessica Parker on the planned series reboot.

The actor played Aidan Shaw, the ex-fiance of Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw, on the original TV run and in 2010 movie “Sex and the City 2”, and now he’s been recruited to join the cast of the new chapter, titled, “And Just Like That…”.

“I’m going to do the show,” he told the New York Post’s Page Six, admitting the gig is “very exciting” for him.

“I think I might be in quite a few (episodes),” Corbett shared of the planned 10-episode show, adding, “I like all those people, they’ve been very nice to me.”

Producers at HBO have yet to comment on the casting news.

Corbett and Parker aren’t the only familiar faces to return to the hit franchise – Cynthia Nixon will be back as Miranda Hobbes while Kristin Davis is also set to reprise her role as Charlotte York, as the longtime friends deal with life in New York City in the midst of a pandemic.

However, Kim Cattrall won’t be returning as Samantha Jones and one of Bradshaw’s other exes, Mr. Big, played by Chris Noth, also isn’t expected to be making an appearance.

A premiere date for “And Just Like That…” has yet to be announced.

The original “Sex and the City” series first launched in 1998 and concluded in 2004 after six seasons. It got a movie version in 2008 and a sequel in 2013. In the same year, a prequel series “The Carrie Diaries” starring AnnaSophia Robb as a young Bradshaw came out. It ended after only two seasons.

Chris Noth Won't Return to 'Sex and the City' Reboot

    Warner Bros. Pictures

The actor, who played Sarah Jessica Parker’s onscreen love interest in the 2008 big-screen adaptation, is not slated to reprise his role in the upcoming project.

    Feb 20, 2021
AceShowbiz – Chris Noth won’t be appearing in the “Sex and the City” reboot.
The 66-year-old actor starred in the hit series as Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) love interest Mr. Big, going on to marry the journalist in the 2008 spin-off movie, but according to the New York Post’s Page Six column, he won’t feature in HBO Max’s upcoming limited series “And Just Like That….”
While it’s unclear as yet how bosses will explain his absence, it’s been suggested that Big and Carrie – who were having marriage problems in the movie sequel – may have split.
And as well as Chris, who is currently starring in “The Equalizer” alongside Queen Latifah, David Eigenberg – who played Miranda Hobbes’ (Cynthia Nixon) love interest Steve Brady – is also not currently slated to appear on the show, though his representative told the outlet he is in negotiations to feature.

It has already been confirmed that Kim Cattrall won’t be returning as Samantha Jones, and show bosses previously insisted her absence would be fitting because the programme would reflect the way friendships change and evolve over time.
HBO Max’s chief content officer, Casey Bloys, said, “They’re not trying to say that these characters are reliving their 30s. It is very much a story about women in their 50s, and they are dealing with things that people deal with in their 50s.”
“In real life, people come into your life, people leave. Friendships fade, and new friendships start. So I think it is all very indicative of the real stages, the actual stages of life … They’re trying to tell an honest story about being a woman in her 50s in New York. So it should all feel somewhat organic, and the friends that you have when you’re 30, you may not have when you’re 50.”
As well as Sarah and Cynthia, Kristin Davis is also on board as Charlotte York Goldenblatt.

'Sex and the City' Reboot Will Have Covid-19 Pandemic as Part of the Storyline

    New Line Cinema

According to Sarah Jessica Parker, the upcoming Carrie Bradshaw series ‘And Just Like That…’ is expected to make reference to the ongoing coronavirus health crisis.

    Jan 31, 2021
AceShowbiz – Sarah Jessica Parker has shared the “Sex and the City” reboot will make reference to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The 55-year-old actress – who will resume her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the upcoming series, titled “And Just Like That…” – has revealed the show will make the coronavirus crisis part of the storyline.
Speaking about the coronavirus pandemic, she said, “It will obviously be part of the storyline, because that’s the city (these characters) live in. And how has that changed relationships once friends disappear? I have great faith that the writers are going to examine it all …”

“I think that Cynthia, Kristin, and I are all excited about the time that has passed. You know, who are they in this world now? Have they adapted? What part have they played? Where have they fallen short as women, as friends, and how are they finding their way? Did they move with momentum? Are they like some people who are confused, threatened, nervous (by what’s happening in the world)? I’m so curious and excited to see how the writers imagine these women today.”
And Sarah also revealed the show will examine the characters’ modern day lives.
Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, she added, “What is their relationship to social media? What has changed? … What is their life like? For Carrie, who doesn’t have family beyond her friendships, where is she professionally? How have all of these political changes affected her work? Is she still writing a column? Has she written any more books? Or does she have a podcast? What does fashion mean to her now? How have the friendships changed or not changed, and has her social circle grown?”

Report: Caitlyn Jenner to Join 'Sex and the City' Revival as Kim Cattrall Is Not Returning

    WENN/Avalon/Joseph Marzullo

The report arrives a week after Sarah Jessica Parker confirmed that a revival of the fan-favorite show was in the works, featuring her, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis.

    Jan 18, 2021
AceShowbiz – While fans of “Sex and the City” won’t be seeing Kim Cattrall on the upcoming revival “And Just Like That…”, it seems like there will be one new face joining Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. If a new report is to be believed, Caitlyn Jenner is in talks to join the reboot in a cameo role.
The Mirror reported that the bosses of the HBO show wanted the transgender icon on the new show to make it more diverse following the criticism that the original series and films were inclusive. “Caitlyn has been a media fixture in one way or another for going on 50 years. She’s really perfect for an appearance,” a source told the outlet.
The insider added, “They want new faces for the show, but they want people viewers actually know and care about too.”

The rumors arrive a week after Sarah confirmed that a revival of “Sex and the City” was in the works, featuring her, Cynthia and Kristin reprising their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbs and Charlotte York respectively. In response to a troll accusing Sarah of hating Kim as the latter wasn’t involved on the revival, Sarah set the record straight, “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would. [Kim’s character] Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.”

Kim previously explained why she wasn’t interested in reprising her role in a third “Sex and the City” film, which has since been scrapped. “I can’t. My heart isn’t in it anymore,” the 61-year-old actress shared in an Instagram comment. “I’ve moved on. 61 isn’t 53 or 41.”
“I have learned so much from Sam,” the “Mannequin” actress said of her character Samantha Jones on the fan-favorite HBO show, which has spanned two movies. “She was my hero but I want to rest & not work as much as I have been doing for years. I want a less hectic life. My decision reflects where I am in my life & I can’t change that without being unhappy. I hope you’ll understand.”
