Andy Cohen Thinks 'The Talk' Hiatus Over Sharon Osbourne Controversy Is Unnecessary

    WENN/Instar/FayesVision

The ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’ host believes it would be better if the wife of Ozzy Osbourne and the daily talk show address her scandal ‘on the air.’

    Mar 19, 2021

    AceShowbiz –
Andy Cohen has weighed in on “The Talk” hiatus following Sharon Osbourne’s controversy. Insisting that there is a better way to address the scandal, the “Watch What Happens Live” host expressed his belief that the temporary break of the daily talk show was unnecessary.

The 52-year-old shared his thoughts when speaking on Australia’s “The Kyle And Jackie O Show” radio show. “In my mind, what they should have done with the Sharon Osbourne thing is go back, get back on the horse the next day, talk it out on the air. Keep talking,” he pointed out. “Now we’re investigating it and we’re investigating what happened. It’s like, just keep talking. You know?”

Andy’s comments came after CBS canceled two episodes of “The Talk”. The network made the decision after Sharon got engaged in an on-air heated exchange with co-host Sheryl Underwood over Piers Morgan’s controversial remarks about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

CBS was later forced to extend the show’s hiatus until Tuesday, March 23 after Leah Remini accused Sharon of using slurs against their former co-hosts Julie Chen and Sara Gilbert when they were working together. “CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace across all of our productions,” the network said in a released statement.

“We’re also very mindful of the important concerns expressed and discussions taking place regarding events on ‘The Talk’,” the statement continued to read. “This includes a process where all voices are heard, claims are investigated and appropriate action is taken where necessary. The show will extend its production hiatus until next Tuesday as we continue to review these issues.”

In a story published by journalist Yashar Ali, Leah claimed Sharon referred to Julie, who is Chinese American, with “slanty eyes” and “wonton.” Leah also spilled that the mother of Kelly Osbourne mocked Sara, who is lesbian, with “p***y licker” and “fish eater.”

Andy Cohen Slams NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio in Drunk Rant During New Year's Eve Coverage

    Instagram

Another viral moment from the New Year’s Eve coverage for CNN is when the 52-year-old Bravo executive tries to get co-host Anderson Cooper to try dropping acid with him.

    Jan 2, 2021
AceShowbiz – Andy Cohen had some choice of words for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. The TV host ripped the Mayor during the New Year’s Eve coverage for CNN that he hosted alongside Anderson Cooper in Times Square on Thursday night, December 31.
Andy put the mayor on blast after CNN aired some footage of de Blasio dancing in Times Square with his wife, Chirlane McCray. Taking a shot of tequila on air before blasting the mayor, the Bravo executive producer exclaimed, “Do something with this city!” The 52-year-old continued, “Honestly, get it together!”
“That’s how I felt when I saw Mayor de Blasio dancing just now,” Andy went on to say. “I just don’t need to see that in the beginning of 2021.”

In the broadcast, Andy also joked he would soon be “tiptoeing back to Bravo,” the home of his talk show “Watch What Happens Live”. “But while I have this platform, I have some other stuff I want to say too. All right?” Anderson then responded, “You’re that guy in the bar,” to which Andy confirmed, “Yeah, I am.”
Another viral moment from the broadcast was when Andy tried to get Anderson to try dropping acid with him. “Well it’s time. We’re doing it tonight,” Andy told his co-host, who said that he had never tried the drug before. “You’re coming over after the show.”
“Watching drunk Andy Cohen try to convince drunk Anderson Cooper to try acid is why I stay up until midnight on 12/31,” one amused viewer tweeted. Another fan similarly wrote, “It is CRIMINAL that we have to wait a whole YEAR to see @Andy and @andersoncooper get drunk together on TV every year. It’s the event I need at least once a week. Make it so.”

Andy Cohen Puts 'Watch What Happens Live' Home Edition on Hold After Coronavirus Diagnosis

    WENN/Instar

The host of Bravo’s talk show explains that ‘as much as I felt like I could push through whatever I was feeling to do #WWHL from home,’ his health is the top priority now.
    Mar 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Andy Cohen is putting his health over his show. Taking to his Instagram account on Friday, March 20 to announce that he tested positive for COVID-19, the TV host also revealed that he has postponed plans to host a home edition of “Watch What Happens Live”.
“After a few days of self-quarantine, and not feeling great, I have tested positive for Coronavirus,” the 51-year-old media personality told his fans the test result. Of how if affected his talk show, he explained, “As much as I felt like I could push through whatever I was feeling to do #WWHL from home, we’re putting a pin in that for now so I can focus on getting better.”
The author of “The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year” went on to “thank all the medical professionals who are working tirelessly for all of us.” He then concluded his message by urging “everybody to stay home and take care of themselves.”

Before he tested positive for coronavirus, Cohen planned to tape his famous talk show from home. “Our show is arguably the most lo-tech show in late night in its current form. So the idea of taking it down even further a few notches is just ironic and hilarious,” he told Variety earlier on Friday morning.
“I mean, we’re the show that I still can’t believe gets a live signal out of a very small clubhouse in Soho,” the executive producer of the “Real Housewives” franchise shared, before explaining the format of “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen: @ Home”, “So we will now be from my own clubhouse in the West Village. My show has always been something of a little coffee klatch, party-line type show. And this seemed like a very natural extension of not only the show, but obviously the times that we’re in right now.”

Andy Cohen announced “WWHL” home edition on his Twitter just hours before sharing his diagnosis.
The first episode of the “WWHL” home edition was scheduled to air on Sunday, March 22 before it was canceled. Cohen had additionally tapped “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes, TV personality Ramona Singer and “Sliders” alum Jerry O’Connell as the guests, who would be joining him on video chat.”

Andy Cohen Claps Back at Hater Accusing Him of Treating 'Real Housewives' Stars as 'Disposable'

    Bravo

Fans agreed with Andy, claiming that new faces were needed to make everything fresh, while some others name former Housewives they’d want to see returning.
    Feb 13, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bravo is making a big change by firing several OG Housewives including Tamra Judge and Vicki Gulvanson from “The Real Housewives of Orange County”. The move seemingly didn’t sit well with one avid fan who came for executive producer and host Andy Cohen for the decision.
“HW wives have made millions for you,” the fan tweeted on Wednesday, February 12 on Twitter. “I don’t appreciate you treating them as disposable. If you need a shake up, replace the host. Thx.”
Andy noticed the tweet and replied hotly to the user, “Ok Sebastian. You can produce the show and fire me and just keep everybody the same every year and see how it goes.”

Fans agreed with Andy, claiming that new faces were needed to make everything fresh. “I mean he’s right, these narratives are getting predictable and some of the ladies think they’re untouchable new blood is necessary,” one fan noted. Echoing the sentiment, someone added, “I was sick of them anyway. Orange county needed new faces.”
One person, meanwhile, demanded Bravo to make a cast shake-up on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, saying, “Please replace some of these ATL Housewives. The same drama every season.” Another user wanted the show to bring back Phaedra Parks. “Im only here to ask to bring back Phaedra. That is all,” the person said.
The firing of some “Real Housewives” cast members apparently got Kandi Burruss anxious. “She is worried that her time on ‘RHOA’ is coming to an end,” an insider explained in a previous report. The source noted that the reality star recently “pitched a spinoff show about her growing family and her businesses.”
“Kandi wants to stay on TV, and she thinks her own family drama is something that viewers would want to see,” the insider continued. Thankfully, her family was fully supportive for her should Bravo greenlight the planned show. “Mama Joyce, Todd [Tucker] and her manager, Don Juan, are all on board,” said the source.
