  • Jon Bon Jovi Likens 'Do What You Can' Video Filming Amid COVID-19 to Being in 'Weird Twilight Zone'

The Bon Jovi frontman recalls what crossed through his mind when shooting the promo for his new song about the coronavirus pandemic in Manhattan’s Times Square during lockdown.
    Oct 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Jon Bon Jovi was taken aback by how “surreal” it was filming his new music video on the streets of New York City during the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Bon Jovi frontman filmed the promo for his new track “Do What You Can”, a song about the coronavirus pandemic, in Manhattan’s Times Square and was taken aback by what it was like to be there on his own – when he had played for hundreds of thousands before.
“It was really surreal,” he tells Australian TV show “The Project”. “I had left the city as well. Our family had gone out to (New) Jersey and I didn’t want to come back here for any reason – but obviously for the video it made sense.”
“I was in Times Square shooting the first shot and it was the first shot of the day and there’s no one there. I was singing because the band couldn’t come in because you couldn’t fly and I’m standing there alone.”

The “Livin’ On A Prayer” rocker went on to reminisce about how it contrasted with the last time he had been in Times Square after a moment of national tragedy, performing a 2002 concert to kick off the first full NFL season after the 9/11 terrorist attacks the previous year.
“In Times Square, where I’m now singing to nobody. I was reminiscing when the NFL asked us to play Times Square and allowed half a million people to come and watch us…Now you’re singing a song 20 years later after another tragedy, alone. That was like a weird Twilight zone.”
Bon Jovi release their new album, 2020, on October 2.

  • Bon Jovi Honors George Floyd and Highlights Black Lives Matter in 'American Reckoning'

Speaking about the his band’s latest release, frontman Jon Bon Jovi insists that he felt compelled to use his voice to support the protests against racial justice reignited by Floyd’s tragic death.
    Jul 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bon Jovi have turned the last moments of George Floyd’s life into a new song, titled “American Reckoning”.
In the rock band’s latest release, which dropped on Friday (July 10), singer Jon Bon Jovi honours Floyd, who was killed by a police officer who kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes during an arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“God damn those eight long minutes/Laying face down in cuff on the ground/Bystanders pleaded for mercy/As one cop shoved a kid in the crowd,” he sings. “When did a judge and jury/Become a badge and a knee on these streets?”
Bon Jovi also questioned the state of America’s soul in the hard-hitting lyrics: “America’s on fire/There’s protests in the streets/Her conscience has been looted/And her soul is under siege/Another mother’s crying as history repeats/I can’t breathe.”

The song references the Black Lives Matter protests, sparked by Floyd’s murder, and the last words the dead man spoke as he ran out of oxygen – “I can’t breathe”.
Bon Jovi reveals he felt compelled to use his voice to support the Black Lives Matter movement for racial justice.
“I was moved to write American Reckoning as a witness to history,” he told Blabbermouth. “I believe the greatest gift of an artist is the ability to use their voice to speak to issues that move us.”
“American Reckoning” will appear on Bon Jovi’s forthcoming album, “Bon Jovi 2020”.

Taylor Swift's Fans Offered Ticket Refund After Live Nation Amended Policy Amid COVID-19 Crisis

    WENN

Announcing its Ticket Relief Plan, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino explains that if concertgoers choose the 150 percent credit option, they will donate tickets to healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus.
    Apr 27, 2020
AceShowbiz – Concert promoters Live Nation have amended previously announced plans for concerts cancelled or postponed by the coronavirus pandemic, following complaints from fans.
Under the new policy, dubbed the Ticket Relief Plan, ticket holders whose concerts have been cancelled will automatically receive a refund. However, if the cancelled show was scheduled to take place at a Live Nation-owned venue, the option will be given to exchange the refund for a 150 per cent credit to be used towards a future ticket purchase.
“Fans, we hear you. We don’t want you to be waiting in limbo while shows are being rescheduled,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino tweeted on Friday, April 24. “Thanks to your feedback, @LiveNation has revised our refund policy. If new dates aren’t set in 60 days, you’ll be able to get a refund at that time.”

Live Nation allowed refund for cancelled shows.
Explaining further benefits of the 150 percent credit option, Rapino added: “When you choose this option, Live Nation will also donate tickets to healthcare workers to share the gift of live with those working on the front line through our Hero Nation program. We will donate 1 ticket for every ticket you originally purchased.”
For postponed gigs, tickets will automatically be transferred to the new date, although ticket holders will have a 30-day window after the new date is announced to opt for a refund.
Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi are among the artists to refund or offer a ticket exchange following their abandoned 2020 tour plans.
The change in policy comes after a class action lawsuit was filed in California against the concert giant over its refund policies, after bosses retroactively changed their refund policy to only allow refunds for cancelled events – not those that have been “indefinitely postponed” or rescheduled.

Bon Jovi Scrap Summer Tour to Enable Ticket Holders to Buy Groceries Amid COVID-19 Crisis

One day prior to the cancellation announcement, keyboardist David Bryan offers fans updates on his recovery progress weeks after testing positive for coronavirus.
    Apr 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Bon Jovi have cancelled their summer tour due to the coronavirus pandemic, as keyboard player David Bryan recovers from COVID-19.
The news was announced via a statement on Monday, April 20, a day after Bryan took to social media to update fans on his progress.
“Due to the ongoing global pandemic, it is no longer feasible for Bon Jovi to tour this summer,” the “It’s My Life” rockers say in a statement. “Given these difficult times, we have made the decision to cancel the tour entirely. This will enable ticket holders to get refunds to help pay their bills or buy groceries. These are trying times.”
“You’ve always been there for us and we’ll always be there for you. We look forward to seeing everyone again on tour when we can all safely be together. We will continue to send out news and updates on Bon Jovi touring in the weeks and months to come.”

Bryan, who tested positive in March, took to Instagram to share news of his recovery on Sunday.

“There are people who have no symptoms, people who got sick (like me), people fighting for their lives and people who sadly have lost their lives,” he posted. “This is a nasty virus but science/medicine will conquer all. Thank you to all for your well wishes. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses and all on the front lines. You are the true heroes!”
