AceShowbiz – Simon Cowell’s plans for a “Britain’s Got Talent” Christmas special have been thrown into disarray after three crew members tested positive for Covid-19.
The festive spectacular was due to film at LH2 Studios in London on Tuesday (13Oct20), but according to Deadline.com, cast and crew were told the shoot would not go ahead on Monday night.
A “Britain’s Got Talent” spokeswoman confirmed the news, but did not comment Deadline’s claim the halt to filming meant the special would now not go ahead.

“As a result of a positive Covid-19 result received yesterday we have implemented our protocols and a number of crew members are self-isolating at home,” she said.
“As a result, we are unable to continue filming our BGT Christmas Special today and have taken the decision to postpone. The safety of all those involved in the show is our number one priority and we follow extensive Covid-19 related procedures to adhere to all government guidelines.”
“Britain’s Got Talent” 14th season ended on Saturday when the delayed live finals finally aired, months after they were postponed due to the U.K.’s coronavirus lockdown. Comedy singer Jon Courtenay was crowned champion, although only 6.5 million viewers in total watched the final on U.K. network ITV and its streaming platform, well down on last year’s 10.1 million.
Rumor has it, two out of four judges, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams, Amanda Holden, and Ashley Banjo, have to enter quarantine after they came in close contact with the crew who subsequently tested positive for the coronavirus.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have personally called Ashley Banjo to support him as he was flooded with complaints following his Black Lives Matter performance.

AceShowbiz – Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex have backed “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Ashley Banjo after a Black Lives Matter dance he performed prompted more than 25,000 complaints.
The dance troupe leader, 31, whose Diversity group won Simon Cowell’s TV talent contest in 2009, choreographed the routine dedicated to the anti-racism movement on the programme last month (Sep20).
It featured Ashley taking the knee, as well as ‘police officers’ kneeling on a dancer – a reference to the death of George Floyd at the hands of police in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May, which sparked global protests.
In the weeks after the broadcast, more than 25,000 people complained to U.K. TV regulator Ofcom, but officials declined to investigate, believing there was no case to answer.
Speaking to Britain’s Evening Standard newspaper, Harry revealed he and Meghan have personally called the dancer and talent show judge to offer their support.

“We spoke to Ashley Banjo a few weeks ago, straight after the Britain’s Got Talent situation,” he said. “And that in itself, I am sure even me talking about it will be controversial, but the reality of it is he and his team of guys put on the most amazing display.”
“We had such a good chat with Ashley. He was really strong, he felt great about it, but at the same time he was concerned because of the reaction. It was a real surprise that there was what? 1,100 complaints after the show and then three days of hype it became 20 or 25,000.”
“I am very glad Ofcom made the decision that they did but that in itself kind of proves how much this conversation needs to continue.”
In the wide-ranging interview launching a list of new Black “trailblazers” to mark Britain’s Black History Month, Harry also spoke about how he has had an “awakening” about racism since marrying his wife, who is mixed race, back in 2018.
“I wasn’t aware of so many of the issues and so many of the problems within the U.K. and also globally as well,” he explains. “I thought I did but I didn’t.”

  • Simon Cowell Plans to Film 'Britain's Got Talent' Special After Breaking Back in Bike Accident

    WENN

Despite reports indicating he faced gruelling weeks of recovery until he can walk again, the ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge is said to have been already up and about by fellow judge Heidi Klum.
    Aug 18, 2020
AceShowbiz – Simon Cowell is reportedly planning to return to TV after breaking his back with a “Britain’s Got Talent” special this autumn.
The entertainment mogul injured himself by falling off an electric bike at his home in Malibu, California – with initial reports indicating he faced gruelling weeks of recovery until he can walk again, meaning he is missing his U.S. show, “America’s Got Talent”.
However, fellow “AGT” judge Heidi Klum has said he is already up and about, and the star is already apparently plotting his TV return by filming a 60-minute “BGT” special being filmed in London.
A source tells British newspaper The Sun, “Simon is a total workaholic and even an accident as nasty as his won’t keep him off for long. He’s been working from his home in Los Angeles since the accident happened and is in contact with his team.”
“The plans for this one-off special of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ have been in the pipeline for months and he is convinced he will be well enough to take his place on the panel.”
“The show will feature some of the best talent from the start of the series in 2007. Simon has been told to take it easy but he much prefers to be busy. Plus he loves working on ‘BGT’, so for him it’s something to look forward to.”
The new special will reportedly be filmed in October, and will air as part of U.K. network ITV’s festive schedule.

  • Simon Cowell to Miss 'Britain's Got Talent' Semi-Finals After COVID-19 Led to Change of Dates

    WENN

It is still unclear if the music mogul will enlist one of his famous friends to stand in for him in person on the day, but his new filming schedules clash with those of ‘America’s Got Talent’.
    Aug 4, 2020
AceShowbiz – Simon Cowell will reportedly miss the semi-finals of “Britain’s Got Talent” after the coronavirus pandemic led to the filming schedules being changed, causing a clash with “America’s Got Talent”.
The music mogul acts as a judge on both programmes’ panels, and usually manages to plan filming days to allow him to shoot both. However, after the Covid-19 pandemic led to filming being shut down on the talent shows, dates for the BGT semis were changed, while the AGT dates stayed the same – and now both shows need Simon at the same time.
Instead, he will have his say on the acts competing for the BGT grand prize virtually. It’s unknown at this stage whether or not he will enlist one of his famous friends to stand in for him in person on the day.
“Simon is gutted to not be physically there for the semi-finals, but he’ll be there virtually, casting an eye over the talent and imparting his views in every show,” a source told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “Normally, schedules mean Simon can do both but AGT’s dates haven’t moved while BGT’s have due to coronavirus.”
The pandemic hit just before auditions were due to start for “Britain’s Got Talent”. While the series usually airs auditions over the space of several weeks, they will now be packed into a one-off catch-up show, before the semi-finals of the programme take place on Saturday nights later this year.
