Chris Pratt to Return as Star-Lord for 'Thor: Love and Thunder'

    Walt Disney Pictures

The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actor is expected to reprise his role as the leader of Marvel’s space ragtag crew in the upcoming fourth ‘Thor’ movie installment.

    Nov 15, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt will reprise his Star-Lord character for the latest “Thor” movie, according to Variety reports.
The actor originated the character for the first “Guardians of the Galaxy” film, and he shot scenes with “Thor” star Chris Hemsworth in Marvel blockbuster “Avengers: Endgame”.
He’ll reteam with Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, and Natalie Portman in “Thor: Love and Thunder, directed by Taika Waititi.

The film is set for release in February, 2022.
The plot is still kept under wraps, but former Batman star Christian Bale is added to the cast ensemble as the main baddie. The movie is expected to be based on the graphic novel “The Mighty Thor”, which sees Jane Foster battling breast cancer and turning into the female version of Thor.
Portman confirmed it, “I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is. I’m trying to think – it’s based on the graphic novel of The Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side.”
Meanwhile, Hemsworth previously said, “The last three films, I think we certainly pushed the envelope. We’ve had a few different versions of the character. Now people expect dramatic change. We’ve got our work cut out for us.” He added, “We’ve got a fantastic slew of actor’s in there, and cast and crew.”

  • Chris Pratt Slammed for Trivializing Voting to Campaign for His Movie 'Onward'

    WENN/Instar

In a post shared on his Instagram page, the ‘Jurassic World’ actor urges his followers to vote for the Pixar movie at the upcoming People’s Choice Awards instead of mulling over who to choose at the presidential election.
    Oct 6, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt has come under fire for making “insensitive” joke about voting. Taking time to promote his movie “Onward” which is currently competing for the Family Movie of 2020 at the upcoming People’s Choice Awards, the actor seemed to trivialize voting to urge people to vote for the Pixar movie instead.
“With all that’s going on in the world it is more important than ever that you vote. Just ask any celebrity. They will tell you. Every day. Several times a day. To vote,” he wrote on his Instagram page on Friday, October 2 along with an image of the movie. “But me? I will tell you EXACTLY who to vote for. #onward.”
Joking on how importance his plea was, he added, “The heroes before us did not spill their blood only to have their sacrifices wasted by your apathy. The upcoming 2020 People’s Choice Awards is the most consequential vote in the history of mankind times a million infinity. Vote for #Onward for family movie of the year. Or else. You WILL die. No hyperbole. Click the link in my bio. Let your voice be heard.”

But instead of gaining support for “Onward”, Pratt’s post only garnered him backlash over what people have dubbed a “tone deaf” joke. “Haha what the f**k. This is super insensitive. Read the room. Oh wait you did and decided to mock people. Coooooooollllllll,” one person retorted.

Another remarked, “YIKES. Imagine the amount of privilege one person can have to write this tone deaf post.” A third one commented, “I wish I found this funny.” A fourth person blasted Pratt on Twitter, “Chris Pratt said the election does not concern me because I am a white privileged man, instead vote for my movie so I can get more awards.”
“I’m not really sure it’s funny to tell people to vote for your animated movie while the world is how it is. Comes off as privileged and totally tone deaf,” another added. Someone else claimed, “And Chris Pratt is tasteless yet again.”
Some others, however, have come to Pratt’s defense, with one justifying, “He is just trying to make a light hearted joke because times ar (sic) tough right now. He has been in 0 scandals. And is a sweet heart of a person. This movie is so sweet and so touching, so let him be proud. He is making a joke… it’s comedy… shut up.”
Another blamed people for being overly “sensitive.” “He’s not mocking the voting process, he’s mocking celebrities. Y’all are too sensitive,” read the comment. Someone else similarly wrote, “What Chris Pratt said is legitimately funny, y’all are just easily angered.”
Pratt has not removed the post in question and has not responded to the backlash.

  • Chris Pratt No Longer Travels to Malta for 'Jurassic World' Filming Due to Covid-19 Surge

    Universal Pictures

The ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’ director has been forced to be scale back the filming in the Mediterranean because of coronavirus concerns as local cases increase.
    Aug 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Jurassic World: Dominion” director Colin Trevorrow is to scale back his shoot in Malta due to crew members contracting the coronavirus.
Local reports claimed last week (end9Aug20) that four “Jurassic World” crew members tested positive for Covid-19 while on the Mediterranean island and are now self-isolating.
Malta has seen an increase in coronavirus cases this month, to 600, with officials in the U.K., where “Jurassic World” main shoot is taking place, adding the country to its list of nations from which arrivals must quarantine for 14 days, and Maltese officials closing bars and limiting public gatherings.
A representative of the film’s studio tells Deadline.com that Trevorrow has decided only the second unit team will shoot on the island.
“Jurassic World: Dominion will have a significant presence in Malta with a second unit crew shooting there from the end of August through to September,” they say.
“Working with an abundance of caution as we have done throughout this production, first unit will no longer shoot in Malta to keep our presence on the ground to a minimum. We’d like to thank the Maltese Government and Film Commission for all their support and we look forward to a successful shoot in this beautiful country.”
Studio sources say around 200 crewmembers will still be shooting, with local workers bringing those involved up to a 1,000. However, stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Sam Neill will no longer travel to the Mediterranean.
The $200 million (£151 million) movie was the first blockbuster to return to production after global Covid-19 lockdowns, with Universal chiefs spending millions of dollars on extensive testing and safety measures.

The Owen Grady depicter reveals in a video chat with a fan, who nabbed the chance after donating to the All In Challenge, that he’s recently returned to London to film the new ‘Jurassic World’ sequel.
    Jul 2, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt is back to work after months in quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic. The actor revealed during a video chat with a fan that he recently returned to London to resume the filming of “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
“I’m doing well,” Pratt told his fan Terry, who also won a role in the upcoming “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” sequel. “I’m back in London currently. We’re back in production on ‘Jurassic World: Dominion’.”
Terry nabbed the rare chance to speak with Pratt after he donated to the All In Challenge. The charity is aimed to end food insecurity amid the pandemic. In addition to the call, he won a role in the potential blockbuster flick, where he will be “destroyed in the jaws of an animated dinosaur.”
“Congratulations to Terry our #AllInChallenge winner!” Pratt wrote along with the video which he shared on his Instagram page. “Watch me zoom bomb Terry, his wife Julie and daughter Kelsey as we all discuss his future as a Dino snack! Thanks Terry! And big ups to everyone who entered the sweepstakes. It’s been an honor to be part of the #AllInChallenge which has raised over $59 MILLION to help feed the hungry during this global crisis.”

The production on “Jurassic World: Dominion” had kicked off in February and moved to England in March, before it was shut down due to the coronavirus outbreak. To ensure the safety of all cast and crew members, the production is taking numerous precautions during filming, including having Your Doctor test all cast and crew before they started on the production. The private medical facility will also test the cast and crew at times throughout production, and they will also be antibody tested.
Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise her role as Claire Dearing, with some of the original cast of the “Jurassic Park” movies, including Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum, returning. Neill recently teased how much the original cast would be involved in the upcoming movie, telling Yahoo!, “We’re all the way through the film, Jeff, and me, and Laura.”
Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, Justice Smith and B.D. Wong also star in the film, which is directed by Colin Trevorrow. The movie is set for a June 21, 2021 release in the United States.

Chris Pratt Offers Roles in New 'Jurassic' Movie for Coronavirus Charity

    Universal Pictures

Fans are given the chance to be eaten by a dinosaur in the upcoming ‘Jurassic World’ movie in exchange for donations to Covid-19 relief efforts amid the ongoing pandemic.
    May 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Chris Pratt is offering two lucky movie fans the chance to be eaten by a dinosaur in the next “Jurassic World” film.
The Hollywood star is the latest celebrity to take part in the All-In Challenge project, for which stars offer amazing prizes in exchange for donations to coronavirus relief efforts.
After being challenged to take part by Justin Bieber, Chris went the extra mile and offered two “recognisable” roles as a dinosaur’s lunch in the upcoming “Jurassic World: Dominion”.
The “Parks and Recreation” star said in a video that it had taken him two weeks “pulling all the strings necessary” to convince studio Universal Pictures chiefs to agree to the challenge.
He added, “You are guaranteed to be recognisable, not cut out the movie, absolutely in the movie forever, cemented, your legacy, forever, eaten by a dinosaur in a movie.”
However, a listing on the All-In Challenge website states there is no guarantee, “that such appearance will be included in the final production or that the production will be released at all.”
There are two chances on offer, one via sweepstake costing $10 to enter and another going to the highest bidder.
All money raised will go to charities Meals On Wheels, No Kid Hungry, and America’s Food Fund, helping to provide meals to those going hungry during the Covid-19 pandemic.
After announcing the prize, Chris then challenged three of his “Avengers: Endgame” co-stars, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, and Robert Downey Jr. to take part and offer their own rewards to donors.
