    AceShowbiz –
Daniel Craig looks set to return to screens as quirky detective Benoit Blanc for two “Knives Out” sequels after walking away from James Bond.

Netflix bosses are reportedly closing in on a deal to make two follow-ups to the actor’s 2019 hit, with Rian Johnson on board to return as writer/director. Sources tell Deadline the deal will be worth over $400 million (£290 million), making it one of the biggest projects to hit the streaming service.

The original film was made for $40 million (£29 million) and went on to earn over $311 million (£225.6 million) at the international box office. In addition to Craig, it has Jamie Lee Curtis, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield and Christopher Plummer in its cast ensemble.

If all goes well, production on the first sequel will begin in Greece at the end of June – over three months before Craig’s delayed swansong as 007 in “No Time to Die” reaches theaters.

In early February 2020, Johnson shared his thought on the possible sequels. During a chat on SiriusXM’s “The Jess Cagle Show”, the director initially admitted, “In my mind I don’t even think of it in terms of a sequel.”

“Ever since we started working on this… look, if we can keep this going, the same way Agatha Christie wrote a bunch of Poirot novels, and then do that with Blanc and keep making new mysteries,” he continued. “Whole new cast, whole new locations. It’s just another Benoit Blanc mystery.”

  • Daniel Craig Defends 'No Time to Die' Delay: We Want People to Go and See It in 'a Safe Way'

    Universal Pictures

The James Bond actor insists it’s not the right time to release the 009 action blockbuster as the movie is put on hold several times due to the Covid-19 crisis.
    Oct 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daniel Craig is fully supportive of plans to delay his final outing as James Bond until next year (21), insisting it simply “isn’t the right time” to launch the action blockbuster.
“No Time to Die” has been among the big Hollywood releases to fall victim to the coronavirus crisis, with its release previously postponed from April (20) to November.
However, it was recently bumped once again until Easter, amid new COVID-19 spikes around the globe, and although fans have been left disappointed, Craig is adamant bosses at MGM Studios have made the right decision.
“This thing is just bigger than all of us,” Craig told U.S. talk show host Jimmy Fallon of the pandemic on Monday night (05Oct20), coinciding with James Bond Day.
“We just want people to go and see this movie in the right way, in a safe way,” the Brit continued.

“Cinemas all around the world are closed at the moment. We want to release the movie at the same time all around the world, and this isn’t the right time. So, fingers crossed, April 2 is going to be our day.”
And Craig is happy he agreed to return for one more action thriller after infamously declaring he’d rather “slash” his wrists than make another movie as 007 following 2015’s “Spectre”.
“I’ve given it everything I can,” he explained of “No Time to Die”. “I’m so glad that I came back and did this last one. We had lots of loose threads we hadn’t tied up. The story just didn’t feel complete…”
Addressing his controversial comments about returning for a fifth and final film as the superspy, he said, “I needed a break, I truly admit it. I just needed to get my head away from it for a while and once I had, we (he and the producers) started talking about storylines and things that we could do, and where we could take it.”
“No Time to Die”, directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, also stars Jeffrey Wright, Lea Seydoux, and Rami Malek.

“No Time to Die” finds Bond enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica after he has left active service when his old CIA friend Felix Leiter, played by Jeffrey Wright, turns up asking for help. Leaving his life with partner Dr. Madeleine Swann, played by Lea Seydoux, Bond returns to the field to face the villainous Safin (Rami Malek) who is armed with a new dangerous technology that could impact the world.
The movie was originally set for May release before it’s pushed back to November 12 and then delayed again until Easter due to pandemic. Apr 24, 2020
AceShowbiz – Robbie Williams wants to show off his “serious acting range” as he tipped himself as Daniel Craig’s James Bond replacement.
The “Rock DJ” hitmaker told Britain’s Daily Star newspaper he could replace Craig, who quits the iconic role after his final Bond movie, “No Time to Die”, comes out in November 2020.
“I want to throw my hat into the ring for the James Bond job,” the former Take That singer declared. “What people don’t know about me is that I am quite a serious actor and I have got range.”
He added, “I am not just a cheeky chappy.”
During the coronavirus lockdown, Robbie, 46, has been showing off his acting skills on Instagram Live by treating fans to dramatic readings of the lyrics to several of his songs.
His ambition comes after the hitmaker said he believes he battled coronavirus while holed up in an Airbnb rental property down the road from his family’s mansion in Los Angeles as he chose to keep his distance from wife Ayda Field, 40, and their four children because he felt “lethargic, tired and heavy.”

Daniel Craig Gets Candid About Why He Came Close to Quitting Bond After Filming 'Spectre'

    Universal Pictures

Set to return as the 007 agent for one final time in ‘No Time to Die’, the ‘Knives Out’ actor opens up in a new interview why it took five years for him to go through the whole thing again.
    Mar 10, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daniel Craig nearly quit as James Bond after making “Spectre” due to the toll the role takes on his physical and mental health.
The “Knives Out” star had to finish filming the last instalment in the espionage franchise in a knee brace due to an on set injury in 2015, and after finishing filming said he’d rather “slash my wrists” than make another 007 movie.
He is, however, set to return as Bond one final time in “No Time to Die” – but tells GQ magazine he meant it when he hinted he’d quit – as making the films took so much out of him.
“I was never going to do one again,” the 52-year-old star explains. “I was like, ‘Is this work really genuinely worth this, to go through this, this whole thing?’ And I didn’t feel… I felt physically really low.”
“So the prospect of doing another movie was just, like, off the cards. And that’s why it has been five years.”
Revealing that preparing for the role harmed his mental health, Daniel explains, “With Bond, you don’t get the script, so the physicality of it is a preparation, in a way. It’s making my head go, ‘This is what it’s going to be.’ ”
The actor adds, “I have suffered from it (anxiety) in the past. I have suffered because it’s been like, ‘I can’t cope, I can’t deal with this.’ ”

“No Time to Die”, which is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, was scheduled for release next month (April 2020). but its debut has been pushed back until November due to the coronavirus which has spread across the globe, forcing the cancellation of numerous concerts, conferences and sporting events.

Daniel Craig Admits to Faking High Speed Chase Scenes in 'No Time to Die'

    Universal Pictures

The James Bond actor is not allowed to do his own stunts because driving while acting is deemed too dangerous in his final outing as the British 007 superspy agent.
    Feb 28, 2020
AceShowbiz – Daniel Craig was banned from driving James Bond’s iconic Aston Martin DB5 as he shot his final movie in the franchise, “No Time to Die”.
The star is departing his role as 007 after five movies and, in a chat with Top Gear magazine, he explained that he couldn’t drive and act at the same time as it was seen to be too dangerous, so his stunt driver Mark Higgins would take his place while filming high speed chase scenes.
“You know we fake it, don’t you? We’re not allowed to do that any more, although I do go driving,” the star, 51, said.
However, he added, “I was allowed to doughnut the DB5 in Matera (Italy), which was great,” referencing the move which involves spinning the car around in a tight, circular motion.
The safety measure was a likely a relief for Craig, who fell awkwardly and broke his ankle while sprinting for a scene filmed in Jamaica last May 2019, and he was required to undergo minor surgery to fix the injury.
He took two weeks off to recuperate, but was soon back in action, and later insisted he was fighting fit as he returned to set to complete work on the flick.
“No Time to Die” hits theatres in April.
