Report: Ryan Reynolds Furious Over Disney's Censorship on 'Deadpool 3'

    20th Century Fox

Though the Mouse House has previously committed to make an R-rated ‘Deadpool 2’ sequel, the studio is reportedly still trying to push a PG-13 threequel on Reynolds.

    Mar 5, 2021
AceShowbiz – Ryan Reynolds and Disney have a fallout, if a new report to be trusted. The Canadian actor is allegedly not happy with the Mouse House for putting censorship on his planned upcoming project “Deadpool 3”.
According to GeekTyrant, a source who works on the Fox Studios lot says Reynolds has “had it with Disney and doesn’t want to have anything to do with them.” As for what has angered the Merc with the Mouth depicter, it is said that the husband of Blake Lively is tired of the Disney “censorship bulls**t.”
Though Disney previously announced that it has committed to make an R-rated “Deadpool 3”, the studio is reportedly still trying to push a PG-13 “Deadpool” movie and now Reynolds is reportedly saying “enough is enough.”

While neither Disney nor Reynolds has commented on the report of their supposed fallout, the site cites Popcorned Planet as another movie news platform which corroborates its story. It additionally reports that Reynolds’s Deadpool is supposed to “fill in the Stan Lee cameos in the Marvel movies from now on.”
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed in January that “Deadpool 3” would be an R-rated movie. “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now,” he said in an interview with Collider.
Reynolds later joked that he duped Disney into giving the greenlight by showing the bosses other Marvel movies. “I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2,” he tweeted at the time.
Later in the same month, he claimed that the threequel was supposed to be a road trip movie with Logan a.k.a. Wolverine. “Before Disney bought Fox, Deadpool 3 was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real,” he wrote on Twitter, referring to “Rashomon”, a 1950 Japanese psychological thriller/crime film directed by Akira Kurosawa.

'Deadpool 3' Would've Been Gritty Road Trip Movie With Logan, Ryan Reynolds Says

    Twentieth Century Fox

According to the Merc with the Mouth depicter himself, the upcoming third installment of the antihero film franchise was going to feature Hugh Jackman’s character before Disney’s acquisition.

    Jan 29, 2021
AceShowbiz – Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox may have forced “Deadpool” writers to scrap their ideas for a planned threequel. The third installment of the antihero film franchise was going to be a road trip movie with Logan, if Ryan Reynolds to be trusted.
The Merc with the Mouth depicter took to Twitter on Thursday, January 28 to share an “honest” fact about “Deadpool 3” to raise awareness about mental health discussions. “It’s critical to have open, honest and healthy discussions around mental health. By retweeting #BellLetsTalk you can make a difference,” he shared a message to his followers.
The Canadian star then got cheeky and turned the topic to include the juicy detail of the scrapped idea, claiming, “In case that’s not enough, before Disney bought Fox, Deadpool 3 was gonna be a road trip between Deadpool and Logan. Rashomon style. For real.”

Ryan Reynolds revealed a scrapped idea for ‘Deadpool 3’.

Reynolds was referring to “Rashomon”, a 1950 Japanese psychological thriller/crime film directed by Akira Kurosawa, which in turned was based on Ryunosuke Akutagawa’s short stories “In a Grove” and “Rashomon”. The story follows various characters who give dishonest retelling of the events in which everyone shows his or her ideal self by lying.
Reynolds previously had a full disclosure moment about “Deadpool 3” when responding to the news that the film would have R rating. He joked that he duped Disney into giving the greenlight by showing the bosses other Marvel movies. “I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2,” he tweeted on January 11.
Reynolds also joked about his idea for the upcoming movie’s storyline, pitching a crossover with a beloved character of Disney’s classic children’s animation, Bambi, as he posted on Instagram, “First order of business: Find the guy who killed Bambi’s mom.”
The movie’s R-rating, meanwhile, has been confirmed by Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige in an interview with Collider. “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now,” he said.
In the same interview, Feige revealed that Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux were working on the script, but the movie “will not be [filming] this year.” He explained, “Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”

    Jan 12, 2021
AceShowbiz – Ryan Reynolds has spoken up after “Deadpool 3” is confirmed to be part of Marvel Cinematic Universe and have a R-rating. Deciding to get honest, the Canadian actor has admitted that he pulled some tricks in order to get Disney’s bosses greenlight the threequel.
In his true sarcastic and comedic fashion, the Merc with the Mouth depicter joked on Twitter on Monday, January 11 that in order to get approval for “Deadpool 3”, “I showed them Spiderman 1 & 2 and told them it was Deadpool 1 & 2.”

Ryan Reynolds joked about getting Disney’s approval for ‘Deadpool 3′ R-rating.
Reynolds also took to Instagram to respond to the news of “Deadpool 3” update. Revealing his idea for the upcoming movie’s storyline, he jokingly pitched a crossover with a beloved character of Disney’s classic children’s animation, Bambi, as he posted, “First order of business: Find the guy who killed Bambi’s mom.”

Feige answered fans’ long-burning question about “Deadpool 3” rating during an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub. “It will be rated R and we are working on a script right now, and Ryan’s overseeing a script right now,” he said.
Revealing that sisters Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux are currently writing the script, he went on sharing, “It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Disney’s Bob Iger previously committed to keep the adult humor nature of “Deadpool” while talking with investors. “[‘Deadpool’] clearly has been and will be Marvel branded. But we think there might be an opportunity for a Marvel-R brand for something like ‘Deadpool’. As long as we let the audiences know what’s coming, we think we can manage that fine,” he promised.

'Deadpool 3' Gets 'Bob's Burgers' Writers to Pen the Script

    20th Century Fox

Emmy-winning writers Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin have reportedly been enlisted to pen the script for the upcoming third Merch with a Mouth movie.

    Nov 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ryan Reynolds has tapped the writers behind cult animated series “Bob’s Burgers” to write “Deadpool 3”.
The actor is poised to reprise his role as the snarky comic book antihero for a third outing, which will be penned by Emmy winners Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, according to Deadline.
The project remains in the early stages of development, but will be the first to potentially utilise characters from the wider Marvel Studios superhero franchises, following Disney bosses’ acquisition of 21st Century Fox, which was completed last year (19). Reynolds first took on Deadpool for an appearance in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” in 2009, and hit the big screen for a standalone film in 2016. “Deadpool 2” followed in 2018.
Both movies were directed by David Leitch. It’s not yet known if he will return to take charge of the third instalment, as a timeline for production has not been announced.

The first movie was R-rated but the violence and profanities were later toned down in the sequel. “I’ve said no (to making a more kid-friendly Deadpool film) since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on (the condition that) a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity,” Reynolds said.
Details of the third installment are still scarce, but the actor previously teased that they were “looking to go in a completely different direction.”
Earlier this year, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson sparked rumors that he’s joining the cast after the comic book creator Rob Liefeld reached out to the actor on Instagram.
“Dearest @therock based on reports of outstanding chemistry between you and a familiar friend, I believe the next logical step is for you to join the Marvel Universe as Garrison Kane in a future Deadpool installment,” Liefeld wrote.
The wrestler-turned-actor replied, “Dearest Rob, thank you amigo. It’s true, in @HobbsAndShaw, I have insanely outstanding chemistry with our familiar friend. Since you created the characters, how does one Garrison Kane get alone with one.”

  • 'Deadpool' Creator Hopes for Cable Spin-Off as Third Movie May Be Scrapped

    20th Century Fox

A spin-off centering on the anti-hero character played by Josh Brolin may be in the card as the third installment of the Merc with a Mouth movie may never happen.
    Jul 22, 2020
AceShowbiz – “Deadpool” creator Rob Liefeld has confessed a third instalment of the superhero franchise might never happen.
Despite leading man Ryan Reynolds revealing late last year (19) that he was “working on (Deadpool 3) right now with the whole team,” Liefeld recently confirmed that the much-anticipated sequel isn’t on the latest docket compiled by Marvel bosses.
And in a new chat with Collider, he’s admitted he’s now unsure whether the film will ever come into fruition.
“You know what? There may not be another Deadpool, and I’m fine,” he shared. “Because I have to live with the fact that I had two amazing experiences, two movies I’m extremely proud of, I love knowing everybody on those movies.”
Liefeld added, “I love Ryan (Reynolds), Josh (Brolin), Zazie (Beetz), David (Leitch), Tim Miller. All of them. The work they did was fantabulous, those movies are here to stand the test of time. You know, but in the world we live in, nothing is guaranteed. And it takes a lot to make movies. And post-quarantine, it’s weird.”
While a direct sequel might be off the cards, it’s not stopping Liefeld plotting spin-offs and she confessed he’d like to see a franchise focused on Cable, played by Josh.
“Cable should have his own movie series. He can exist independent of Deadpool in a heartbeat. He has for years,” he teased. “If Deadpool’s been in like 330 comics, Cable’s been in about 520. Yes, I’ve counted…”
“In between Deadpool 2 wrapping and opening, I got really close with Josh. And he was very excited about exploring Cable in the subsequent sequels. The X-Force standalone movie that was, in his own words, Cable-centric.”

'Deadpool' Creator Slams Disney With Beastly Mickey Mouse Artwork

    Instagram

Rob Liefeld shares an artwork that shows the cartoon character holding a decapitated head of Deadpool, and another which features the Merc with a Mouth holding a dead Mickey Mouse.
    May 26, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rob Liefeld has once again taken aim at Disney over the lack of plan for “Deadpool 3”. The creator of the comic book character threw shade at the Mouse House by sharing some gruesome Mickey Mouse artworks on his Instagram Stories.
One of the fan art depicts Ryan Reynolds’ character holding a dead Mickey Mouse by the tail as he walks away from a Hollywood in flames. The popular cartoon character sports a bullet wound on the head, apparently having been shot by the Merc with a Mouth who is holding a gun in his other hand.

Another fan art depicts the other way around. The second image shows a beastly Mickey House holding a decapitated head of Deadpool, whose mouth is sealed with a duct-tape which has Walt Disney’s logo on it. The company’s most popular character appears to be the executioner as he also wields a sword.

The comic book writer also posted an artwork which depicts Mickey Mouse as Deadpool, twisting the character’s name into Dead Mouse. Another artwork mashes up Deadpool’s logo with Mickey’s head.

Liefeld left all those images captionless, but considering his recent comments about the lack of progress being made on “Deadpool 3”, it’s suffice to say that he used the artwork to express his displease at how Disney handles the franchise. “Know what their plan for Deadpool is right now? Goose egg. Zero. Zero!” he said earlier this month, believing that the third movie wouldn’t come out in the next five years.
He previously also said on ComicBook.com’s “Talking Shop”, “I blame Marvel…blame Marvel that [‘ Deadpool 3’] hasn’t happened yet. They are the reason it isn’t happening. Whatever conundrum or it didn’t fit into your master plan, just commission it. Okay, commission it.”
Ryan Reynolds, on the contrary, remains optimistic about the future of his character. “We’re working on it right now with the whole team,” the Canadian actor said about the third movie on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” back in December. He also gushed about his character joining the MCU, “We’re over at Marvel, which is the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kind of crazy.”

'Deadpool' Creator Believes Third Movie Will Not Come Out in Next Five Years

    Twentieth Century Fox

When claiming he has not seen ‘Deadpool 3’ on the Marvel’s schedule, comic book creator Rob Liefeld points out, ‘Until a movie is put on a schedule, it’s not taken seriously.’
    May 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – A third “Deadpool 3” film is not on the Marvel schedule for the next five years, according to the creator of the comic that inspired the franchise.
Rob Liefeld has revealed that the much-anticipated sequel, which would star Ryan Reynolds, isn’t on the latest docket compiled by film bosses.
“Until a movie is put on a schedule, it’s not taken seriously,” Liefeld tells io9. “And what people don’t like is that I have assessed the schedule for the next – give or take – five years and I don’t see ‘Deadpool’ on it. I don’t see that it can arrive earlier than that.”
The writer also clarified that some of his past comments on the lack of progress on the production were not a knock on executives at Marvel, but rather a way for him to be honest with “Deadpool” fans.
“Do I know that there is no movement on a ‘Deadpool 3’ right now? I know that, yes. Does that worry me? No, not at all,” he adds. “What I did was I answered a question honestly, and what I learned this week is just lie. Just tell people everything is lollipop and unicorns and rainbows and you’ll be better off in your life, because people want to be lied to.
“Just because some guy goes, ‘Yeah, we’re still moving along’, that’s code for ‘there’s nothing to see here’.”
“Deadpool” was released in 2016 and it’s hit follow-up debuted in 2018.

'Deadpool' Creator Slams Marvel for Third Movie Delay

    20th Century Fox

Blaming the studio for the uncertain green light for ‘Deadpool 3’, comic book writer Rob Liefeld says in a new interview, ‘They are the reason it isn’t happening.’
    May 11, 2020
AceShowbiz – Following Disney’s 2019 acquisition of 20th Century Fox, “Deadpool” is now part of the expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe. But Rob Liefeld, the creator of the Merc with the Mouth, isn’t too happy with the way the studio is handling the movie franchise of his anti-hero character.
Despite the success of “Deadpool 2”, the third movie hasn’t got an official green light yet, meaning “Deadpool 3” is not going to come anytime soon. As eager as fans who have been looking forward to a new installment of the Ryan Reynolds-led film series, Liefeld is blaming Marvel for the third movie delay.
Liefeld expresses his upset at the studio during an interview with ComicBook.com’s “Talking Shop”. “I blame Marvel…blame Marvel that that hasn’t happened yet,” he says. “They are the reason it isn’t happening. Whatever conundrum or it didn’t fit into your master plan, just commission it. Okay, commission it. You know if Frank Frazetta was still around, you would say, ‘Frank paint for me.’ ”
Thinking that Reynolds should have the power to the threequel as he wishes, Liefeld adds, “If Ryan is making ‘Deadpool 3’ right now, that’s because Marvel hasn’t allowed it to be yet and that’s all I’m saying. So, do I have a lot of faith in that system? Dude, I have no idea. So this is where I’m not that, I’m not giving you the answers you want. I’m like yeah, yeah. Look if it happens, terrific.”
Further expressing his skepticism that “Deadpool 3” will be coming soon considering Marvel’s already packed schedule for the next three years, the comic book writer says, “How old am I gonna be when that happens?” He goes on sharing, “And literally I used to be like, yeah, Mark Ruffalo, Hulk and Deadpool would make for a funny movie right? But, none of these guys are getting younger, right okay?”
Despite no official green light for “Deadpool 3” just yet, Reynolds has been brewing ideas for the third movie. “We’re working on it right now with the whole team,” Reynolds said on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” back in December.
Unlike Liefeld, the Canadian hunk was seemingly excited about the fact that Deadpool is now part of MCU. “We’re over at Marvel, which is the big leagues all of a sudden,” he gushingly said. “It’s kind of crazy.”
