The announcement follows the December release of the new dad’s latest track, “Afterglow”.
” ‘Afterglow’ is a song I wrote last year that I wanted to release for you,” he wrote. “It’s not the first single from the next album, it’s just a song I love, and hope you love too. Enjoy! Have a safe and happy festive break and New Year’s. Back to dad land for me now.”

It marked the first new material from Ed since his 2019 album, “No.6 Collaborations Project”, which featured the likes of Stormzy, Khalid, Cardi B, Chance The Rapper and Eminem.
In December 2019, the 29-year-old musician announced that he’s taking a break from making music. “Hello all. Gonna go on another break again,” he told his fans and followers on Instagram.
“The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world,” he explained. “I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. • Ed Sheeran Joins Rolling Stones to Demand Government Aid Dying Music Industry Amid Pandemic

    WENN

The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker, along with the likes of Mick Jagger and co, Paul McCartney, and Coldplay, is calling on the U.K. government to help revive the ‘crippled’ music industry.
    Jul 3, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, and Rita Ora are among the stars calling on the U.K. government to assist those working in the live music industry in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
More than 1,500 artists, including Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Dua Lipa, Sam Smith, and Liam Gallagher have signed a joint letter, warning the future is “bleak” for hundreds of thousands of workers in the sector.
Addressed to Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden appealing for sector specific support, the note says, “U.K. live music has been one of the U.K.’s biggest social, cultural, and economic successes of the past decade.”
“But, with no end to social distancing in sight or financial support from government yet agreed, the future for concerts and festivals and the hundreds of thousands of people who work in them looks bleak,” it continues. “Until these businesses can operate again, which is likely to be 2021 at the earliest, government support will be crucial to prevent mass insolvencies and the end of this world-leading industry.”
The letter calls for a “clear, conditional timeline” for reopening venues without social distancing, a “comprehensive business and employment support package” and access to finance, plus full VAT exemption on ticket sales.
“Amazing gigs don’t happen without an amazing team behind the stage, but they’ll all be out of jobs unless we can get back out there doing what we love,” said Liam Gallagher on how Covid-19 has affected the industry.
Dua Lipa added, “It’s incredibly important for artists like myself to speak up and support the live music industry in the U.K.”
To coincide with the initiative, artists have pledged to post films and photos of their last live gig under the banner #LetTheMusicPlay. Fans will also be encouraged to post about the last gig they went to in a mass show of support for the U.K.’s live music industry during the shutdown.

    Jun 7, 2020
AceShowbiz – Ed Sheeran has been in the studio helping up-and-coming music star Jeremy Loops work on a new album.
The “Shape of You” hitmaker told fans back in December 2019 he was taking time out from music after wrapping his mammoth two-year “Divide Tour” – but, according to Jeremy, he broke his hiatus to help the rising star out on his record.
The South African singer told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “I arrived early in the morning and we worked all day on a few different songs.”
“He’s known to be a very fast writer. He’s very fluid and moves quickly,” the hitmaker continued. “He can work with whoever he wants, so there’s something beautiful about the fact that he wanted to work with me.”
He added, “I couldn’t have called him and been like, ‘Yeah, I want to work together, like, get ready.’ ”
The new record will be Jeremy’s third – he’s already released 2014 debut “Trading Change” and the 2018 follow-up, “Critical as Water”.
Meanwhile, Ed has finally got some rest during the coronavirus lockdown, with reports suggesting he’s been taking up numerous new hobbies, including gardening, beekeeping, and brewing beer for his pub in Suffolk, England.
